Think it's time I put in a plug for www.thefarm.co.nz (http://www.thefarm.co.nz)
Just got back from a week or so there with my lil cuzzy. Nice people, yummy food, plenty of trails and other riding spots, good conversation of an evening, and very reasonably priced.
If you have kids, they'll have a blast. There are loaner bikes for those who have not any, old cars to skid around the paddocks, and mud enough to delight the filthiest young critter.
Sky TV and Internet access are on hand if you must have your fix of civilisation, but the hammock is much more relaxing. Trust me!
They even tolerate (and encourage) n00b riders like me. Quads too. Talk about patient :) Mike, the big boss man, took on the ISDE last year. He finished. I was impressed :)
I'll definitely be back!

I'll totally back that up, I did a week there early January myself, awesome spot & great for families.
For riding, Mike has a real variety of terrain & his tough bits are "tough", he's also got a huge amount of skill & makes one heck of a teacher.
For the record on the back of the hill opposite the house, I'm running around 35% success rate getting up & it's the key reason I now have Pro Taper bars ( well my first pair, need another, but that's a whole other story ).
Cheers

OK I'll share. Lemme think of some captions....
"Sometimes, four little wheels good." :D
"But other times, four bigger wheels better." :p
"Does it still smell of fish? Next time, I'm bringing Febreze!"
"They even provide a prewashing service for dinner plates."

Nice captions, that dog has to be one of the best natured ones I've come across :).
It definitely looks like it's got muddy in the last month :).
How was the hill climb at the end of the River Track, apparently when it's wet that is a nasty little climb, come to think of it the two creek crossing would be alot more "exciting" to ( it's not like they were easy before ).

Yeah, I misread the bit about cousins, how did the rest of the holiday go ?.
Watching that quad looping over was not one of the better sights I've seen, a little to easy to get hurt when that happens.
Cheers
