"tough for the competition to keep up".........."year of the GSXR1000 K7"

The best gets better, read about it in this report (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/nav?page=motorcyclenews.articles.articleCategory.a rticle&resourceId=6489980&articleCategory=NEWS_NEW-BIKES).

Awesome. Wonder how many people will be riding around in the 'C' mode, but when they pull up to have a yak about the ride, they deftly switch it to 'A' mode incase anyone checks LOL...

BT-015's is interesting. I assume that Suzuki acknowledge that theres issues with the 014's (at least locally here maybe)?

I never had much problems with 014's often some tires don't suit some riders(which can be the case) the 015 is just a newer version of it high end sport tires, they seam to have a new one out every 18 months or so

Me either, in fact I get on well with them, though I'm only on the 750. As an all round tyre (pardon the pun) I think they're great... if you're running in fast group on track, there's obviously far better choices.

Your get that with any tire brands, aka i stay away from pirellis, others stay away for bridgestones, some hate pirellis, every tire has there good points and bad points, and often those bad points get highlighted by some peoples different riding styles.

There is a vid of the K7 ripping around Philip Island as well. Sounds amazing, hits 282km/h in 4th gear! Also Yoshimura are making single side exhaust for them, saves 7.2kg and makes the bike look soooo different.

Here we go for the exhaust. Drool. (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/nav?page=motorcyclenews.articles.articleCategory.a rticle&resourceId=6476937&articleCategory=NEWS_PRODUCT-NEWS)

Here is the link for the vid - Thanks to gav. (http://www.mcnews.com.au/podcasts/2007_Feb12/GSX-R1000_LAP3.wmv)
From what I understand, standard tires, journo riding, and on his 3rd lap.

Yeah when the first pictures of the K7 surfaced...a lot of people started moaning about the twin pipes......but so what? Most people put after market cans on anyway.....and man does that look horn then!

'bout time they put adjustable pegs on a Jap road bike. It's not like we're all the same size and all use the bike in the same way

Self-supporting as well! No pillion pegs or can strap, looks oh so clean. And dropping 7kg will bring the weight down to the 163kg (dry) mark. 170rwhp with 163kg, yes please!!

Good write up and nice video! 300km/h in 5th with one gear to go and not looking like it was exactly straining! Anyone know why someone doesn't have a go at the NZ Land Speed record set a few years ago by the 'Busa? Think it was only :innocent: 307km/h...or are the thou's restricted like the 'Busa, ZX14, etc.?

If they were surely it wouldn't take to much to bypass it.

Impressive riding.

Hurry, put your orders in now! There's only about 1 million of these bikes coming to NZ. Don't miss out!

The difficulty is finding a suitable venue, getting the road surveyed, timing gear verified, marshals, road closure, ambo etc etc.

You need to do two timed runs (one in each direction) within a 15 minute period, and the average speed is the 'result'.

That's how I understand it anyway.

Yeah, the official record does take a bit of setting up, but recently someone did the sidecar run and didn't a Gixxer thou top the flying 1/4 runs at over 300 recently, too? There're a few roads in NZ that should take the speed.

I'm sure a braver soul than I, (only done 210 so far - not sure I'd be good enough for 310...:third: ) with a bit of support could set it up? Maybe a promo to raise money for charity...? Maybe KB could try a promo... Capitalise on the Burt Munroe publicity...:sunny:

:

Tony Sampson has done 306.22 kph, but only in one direction. (Slight tailwind as well) I think the timing gear would need to be turned around before the second run.

I think the motor is mean't to be sealed afterwards as well, under MNZ rules. In case of protest or something - they have various speed records for different class of bikes, based on cc's.

Less weight and wind resistance can't be a bad thing. Koba was using the one arm technique on his GSX250 and went faster than previous sprint - maybe that's how he managed to crack the ton.

Yup, that'd be me then. Actually, I do wave back except mid corner or on the back wheel. Then I use my foot. Anyway, how'd you know? Last time you came to hicksville you didn't come and visit. Too busy or something eh?

Certainly does. In fact I had to check to make sure it was on the standard mufflers, which it is.

Sorry, only just read this one now. Roughly translated this equates to 'OH SHIT, another bike half the price of mine with twice the performance, fuck what do I say, how to save face, ooh ooh ooh ooh, I know, attack it on how popular, no no that won't do, ah 'common' it is, sure it's clutching at straws but what else can I do? Phew, that was close. I feel better now, ah yes, much better.'

lol.....and the first few shipments will be hard to get one out of!

Come on up and ride our demo if it's your right arm you've got. It is your right arm you've got innit?

Yup, I'd be keen as to do that, but riding it without the clutch would be a no-go. If I do decide to go with one I'd just do what I've done in the past, buy it, modify it, then ride it.

Mate....I've seen you ride (in the clip you shared with us re your 'bin')....you don't need a clutch! I'll push start you down the road so you don't have to worry about engaging 1st from a standstill...!
Years ago whilst working for Brisbane Yamaha, I took an FJ1200 for a shop ride....half way into it, I lost all the clutch fluid and had no clutch at all.
I didn't stop for most of the traffic lights....but the ones I had to must've looked pretty funny. I paddled like Fred Flintstone on crack when they went green then just slammed it into 1st and that was that...:scooter: Until the next set!
