Take them down to see the doctor. They're a real pain and you want to get some good shit for them (failing that medecine of some sort).

Nurstursian (sp) leaves. They look like lillies with no flowers and have a peppery taste to them. They grow freely around, pick some and wash the leaves and chew only the leaves. If you are a herbalist or hippy, you can make a rather foul tea from the leaves too.

Already have...
Has been to docs twice... 1st time gave antibiotics?!...and voltaren
2nd time... they identified the cause of the sore throat (Ulcers)...
and doubled the dose of antibiotics?!... didnt even perscribe any type of painkillers (my stash is almost all gone!, leftover from when I had an off)...

Ive been taking over iceblocks n jelly etc...

Apart from medicine we've already got.... is there any herbal remedies that might help?? (no not a joint... cuz that'd hurt the throat too much...!!)

Has been in bed ALL week... sleeping etc... (snoring too.. doubt that helps!)... doc said 'your run down, take a break' kinda thing...

Gotta be something I can buy/make to help?!

It is possible, as is gonnorea and chlamidia......

A week is a long time to be laid low. I'd personally be inclined to go to another doctor for a 2nd opinion.

Make sure vitamin and mineral intake is adequate (Vitamin B12, iron, follate, zinc maybe). Take any vitamin tablets with food.

Yea. Not too much though as too many leaves 5+ in an hour tends to have a laxative affect.

Ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch.

Drinking organic apple cider vinegar (from a health shop, not the dyi supermarket stuff) after a meal can be good for some blood sugar problems - you may want to look into that at some stage......

There's sweet all you can do if it's in the back of the throat. It should be gone in about a week of appearing. Sadly, it'll get worse before it gets better. Because of the pain, your partner may switch to a liquid diet and lose a few kg.

Your partner needs to rest more, drink plenty of water, fresh vegetables, and ensure they have the right balance of vitamins and minerals.

Drink honey lemon hot water drink. That's full of good stuff and will help heal his wound. 1t honey, 1 whole lemon (avoid concentrate), 1 cup hot/warm water. (Adjust honey volume till you find the right tasting mixture for his taste buds). Drink as often as you please. This drink is also handy for fighting off a cold when you've just noticed it.

Hot honey milk will probably be nice as well because it places a film over the wound.

Ulcers in the throat - sounds like rather an odd place to get them. Mouth ulcers usually relate to tiredness and/or oral hygene. Salt dissolved in warm water can help them seal and repair. But I doubt that will work for back of the throat problems.

Oh ok... thats interesting...
Im not 100% sure on what kind of blood sugar prob it is...
body doesnt store it or something??..
Eats a HELL of a lot... like a HORSE... is slim/slender tho...
I dont know where it goes lol... If I ate the same amount... I would pile on the weight!!
Will have to have another 'tell me about your sugar thing again' evening...
I thought it was diabetes when first told about it... but whenever I say 'diabetes' I get told.. 'its not that'... *shrug*

From experience once you get them there aint much to speed up the process, Cold drinks help and gargle mouth washes etc as a clean ulcer is less painful. There is an iodine mouth wash that taste horible but really cleans things up. If this happens often buy mouthwash and gargle when every you can, this as helped keep them away!

Sure it's not strep throat? I've had ulcerated strep throat and ended up having an ambulance ride to hospital. Doctors were clueless until I got to hospital and had blood screening done.

Absinthe, the goodstuff, will make you capable of deeds that you had never dreamed possible and as if by magic, make the finer points of the previuos evening virtually impossible to recall. Best consumed in moderation...or not

Ive always wondered about that little warning that states, "Warning, do not drink straight. Always mix." And one I saw advertised saying, "Poison, consume carefully"

Ive always wondered about that little warning that states, "Warning, do not drink straight. Always mix." And one I saw advertised saying, "Poison, consume carefully"

Both of those warnings are equally valid. We got onto a local source that was importing a brand called "Diablo", the jury is still out as to wether the brand name made direct referrence to the possibility of acutally seeing Diablo or becoming his earthbound representative for a short time

tip up to the chemist, give them a look..they can give you a gel paste you pop on them which clears them up in a day or so...and eat more vegtables, mouth ulcers can be brought on by poor vitamin levels.

VOLTAREN!!! That is the worst thing for an ulcer as it causes them!! Everytime you take voltaren you will bleed 2 1/2 teaspoons of blood in your stomach. That's why they're supposed to be "taken with food".

There are various remedies that will coat thwe throat/stomach to cat as a barrier from acid reflux. Also, smoking doesn't help. To be rather sombre, this may b a pre-cancerous condition. Seek advice from an ear, nose and throat specialist at a hospital. GP's always take a "stab in the dark" as if they were Dr House.

There is a difflam spray that might be worth trying .. if only because it numbs the throat .. won't fix the ulcer though .. that takes time. Also good painkiller is Nurofen plus available from the pharmacy...

H. Pylori causes ulcers in the stomach. Volraren and aspirin cause GI bleeding.

As Mom said.. Difflam spray is an awesome local anaesthetic.. I use it & it works great!

As Quatermile said, Bonjella works wonders.. apply on the end of a cotton bud.. I get mouth ulcers when I am tired & run down & Bonjella is great.. especially rubbed on just before eating!

In terms of natural remedies.. a mouthwash made up with about 4-5 drops of TeaTree Pure Essential Oil.. (GOOD stuff from a health shop, or Aromatherapist!!!) would be good. TT is highly antiseptic, could put a couple of drops of Lavender in there also.. in warm water.. gargle & spit out.. do NOT swallow. The TT might not taste that great, but block ya nose as ya gargle & it shouldn't be too bad (taste actually is 80% smell!!)

Hope your partner feels better real soon! All the best!

Thanks for your tips :D

When I got home after work/training & league last night, the throat spray seemed to be doing its job. Was out of bed, talking, eating and able to swallow more comfortably again. Upon waking this morning tho... first thing that was lunged for was the spray on the bedside table.
It's good stuff, I tried it too... my throat went pretty numb... and it doesnt taste really bad either... DIFLAM THROAT SPRAY... gets full marks from us lol
