This sucks having to sell all my favourite toys, they are starting to move on to new homes. I thought I was OK with it but even though I cannot use them, I feel less complete as they go...
Bring on that bloody trike!:innocent:

Hey John,
Hang tuff, you will get through this hard stage... seeing your bikes going to good owners who will look after them.
As yungatart says... as one door closes another door opens up for you.
There is a one cool looking trike out there with your name on it...
Where you and Donna can ride all around NZ on it.
Even put you son on it as well. Im sure he will also love it.

I still think the coolest build ever on Monster Garage was when they took a Prime Mover and turned it into a Trike

Can't say I know how you feel cos I'm not you so thats 'difficult' ...
I remember being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes though and sometimes - (trust me) that bloody sucks in ways that are not obvious (not that it even remotely compares) and I do remember the feelings of loss of freedom. Time moves on and it drags us with it whether we like it or not so all you can do is deal with it. That you are open about it indicates to me you will find a way! If I was to give advice it would be to do some research and make your own decisions (informed ones of course)....
Like giving up smoking - the feelings are always there but thus far I keep the monsters firmly UNDER the bed....

THE TRIKE IS IN A 5 YEAR PLAN AS WE HAD TO BUY A NEW HOUSE AS THE OLD ONE WAS WORTHLESS FOR WHEELCHAIRS. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS A 900CC HORNET MODIFIED AS A TRIKE. HOWEVER IVE GOT PLENTY OF TIME TO DO SOME RESEARCH.

Saw one of them at the Westpac Helicopter funraiser run last sun.
Spoke to the guy and his wife who owns it.
Its a import...... think he said from Germany.
Seems there are a few already here in NZ.
Damn nice looking bike it is too.
A few mods would be needed for the front seat to accommidate John and to fit his wheelchair.

Mate. Totally sucks, I can only imagine how helpless you feel. All of us on KB were pinching ourselves hoping it wasn't true when we heard of your bin, and some of us are still pinching ourselves now wishing it didn't happen to such a good bloke. :weep:
But chin up mate. No use grumbling about the past, nothing can change that now. Time to look to the future with your lovely lady beside you... and three wheels under you. I knew you wouldn't let it hold you back mate. Rock on. :Punk:

I saw one of these ages ago, they look a bit naff but you could probably do something better with gruntier scooter engines and a space frame chassis or something.

You've probably already seen it, but http://www.thedma.org.uk/ should have info and advice etc on trikes / conversions. They raise money to help finance this sort of thing in the UK.
Remember seeing an article on them on TV in the uk a few months back.
or what about a busa powered MP3 clone?

It has to be something that I can sit relatively upright which was why I was thinking about a hornet. However it also has to be big enough to have my wheelchair on the back and I'm getting a fixed frame and not a fold down chair...

Good to see you looking to the future John. Radical life changes do suck, and I understand its tough. I have no idea what you are going through but I'm glad we've still got you with us.
My cousin is the Chairman of Ulysses down here; he had to move to a trike as he stuffed up his leg and still enjoys his Goldwing trike.
The good thing about stuff on the 5 year plan is that it usually happens sooner. :Punk:

John, I know that nothing much I can say will make up for the loss of your favourite toys but we do promise to take really good care of her and give her lots of extra TLC...
Glad to hear your looking forward to things to come. It was lovely to meet Donna on Saturday, hope we didn't hold her up for too long.

That is awesome.
Was the wheelchair folded up?
As Inlinefour has said that he, isnt having a wheelchair that folds up.
I know that wheelchairs costs heaps of money to make, so having two of them would be very costly.
Would be nice to have one that can be fitted on and off the trike easily..........

Hi Inline4...hope you are bearing up. Not nice to see all your babies are being sold. Hope they all go to good homes and are loved as much. I know Neil from TrikeWorks in Taupo does amazing things with trikes and takes heaps of time to understand and work in your individual needs. I think the picture that Mstrs has posted up is one of Neil's trikes. Awesome eh!!!
Take care matey!!!

From one I saw before, if the chair doesn't fold up it gets hung on hooks on the back, bascially behind the pillion on the back of a backrest, and has a strap to hold it.
it's either put there by the pillion after the rider has 'transfered' (or whatever the proper name is) from chair to bike, or by the rider lifting it up, and leaning back with it behind their head (probably takes some practice / strength).
they also had foldable foot plates so that you could get as close as possible in the chair to make it easier, and they had foot straps to stop your legs falling off.
and you'll now have two wheels to help get the power down....
