hey there guys, i thought i would join up to this forum,
although im currently living in scotland, im a kiwi :D
i have been over here for just over a year and have a year to go untill my visa runs out, then i plan to ride across europe through russia into china and then down into the lower asian countries untill i reach singapore where i will kick my bike into a ditch and fly home.
i currently have 2 bikes over here,
the first is my suzuki gs500 commuter that i have butchered into an unrecognisable mishmash with a gsxr1100 twindisc front end, sv650 shock (to lift her to fit my 6'4") a bandit 6 rear wheel (a 130 just isnt wide enough)
and a srad subframe and plastics (seemed like a good idea at the time :D )
and a modified r6 link pipe with a quill race can (just because all motorbike should be offencivly loud)
heres what it looked like after i had done the r6 exhaust and the sv650 shock
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/PICT0141Custom.jpg">
and after all my bodging
<img src="http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/2984/pict0382smallkb7.jpg">
my second bike is a zxr750 h1
im in the process of streetfighting it at the moment, as its like a torture rack to ride,
i have lifted the rear and have new digital clocks, still waiting on the headlight, the new tail section (from speed triple)
i have added risers which lift the bars just over 6" from the standard height,
so new braided lines have been ordered as well (i got sent the wrong ones so the have been sent back and am waiting for the replacements)
im fairly happy with the bikes proformance and have upgraded the carbs from 36 to 38mm kehins im getting about 97hp at the wheel so thats not to bad for a 18 year old bike.
here are a couple of pics whemn i first bought it,
ill post some more when my streetfight has been completed :D

well thats me bikes,

im originally from taupo,
but have lived in waiouru (army days)
auckland (apprentiship days)
wellington, wanaka, stewart island, hamilton, and a bunch of other places as well :D taupo will always be home though :D

dunno what im gunna do with those 2 bikes, (i cant help but buy bikes, they are stupidly cheap over here, the gs cost me 300 and the zxr cost 700 and a mate over in glasgow bought a vtr1000 with 24000 miles on it for 1400. :D
i may send the zxr home, and just give away the gs.

Hey mate, welcome to KB. Nice machines

I'm also a Kiwi doing my (probably won't be the only one though, I have a UK passport) OE, except much shorter than yours and currently in Leeds - though we're actually headed up to Edinburgh this weekend for a bit of the usual - sightseeing and catching up with people we know.

God damn, don't remind me how cheap bikes are over here, it's just too damn tempting to hold off and not buy one. But I have to wait until I'm back in New Zealand. I miss my bike :(

Mate, you're a bloody legend... and I'd love to. But I really couldn't do that to you. In reality I'm just some guy you've never met in person and don't know from a bar of soap, including important things like how much riding experience I have, what I've ridden, how good a rider I am or anything. So as much as I appreciate the gesture, I shouldn't take you up on it. I've got leathers over here which is handy - being lent them because of riding pillion with Fat Tony sometimes, but I'll settle for a pint on Saturday night if you like! I'll only have the cellphone, and unfortunately it's got no credit on it until Monday, but the number's 07748 719 969. Unless you're wanting to ring tomorrow night - we jump on the train Saturday morning.

Cheers
Ryan

Any chance of filling a container full of cheap bikes before you leave the UK??

Believe me, I've thought pretty seriously about doing that. I've got enough cash with me to buy a good half a dozen as long as they're cheapish. It's very tempting. So not fair discovering the price of 2nd hand bikes over here. Like a redneck between two pints, too confused to do anything :(

Hell yes. That's why the prices of bikes here are so tempting. Mate, if you're going to get a crate, split it with me and we'll biff as many decent machines in there as we can fit. Whee... much fun!

If you're really not worried about it I'll happily take it for a blat in that case! Only trouble is I don't know Edinburgh at all having never been there - I'll probably wind up getting lost and that won't do. Still, I guess we'll see what happens. I'll bring the leathers up with me if my partner doesn't make too much noise about it, but might need to borrow a lid if you've got a spare. Nice. Gonna be a good weekend after all! :niceone:

We'll be on the train just after 7am, arrive just after 10 I think. Staying Saturday night and heading home Sunday around 6.
Cheers

No, they're just stupidly expensive over here. Make sure you've had them registered in your name for at least 12 months before shipping them here otherwise you'll have to pay GST on them.

Edinbru's easy. The folk are easy too. Phrases like "how ye' doing weegie", "the jam tarts are gay" and "are ye a tim?" go down really well.

If you want rid of $hite old bikes cheap then my tight arse cousin in Balerono is always on the lookout for them. PM me for his number if you want it shifted.
