Roberts: Distinct Possibility We Won't Be Racing This Year
'Right now, we've got to make a decision: go or no go.'

A worrying possibility........

Yeap, KRJR finally had a bike he felt he could push again.. but then, thats what a Honda and Michilen's will do...I rekon the last KR race-bike had a bit more than Honda just 'suggestng' things on frame manifacture...and for that reason, perhaps HRC will jump in and knock back the contract price on the motor supply?? I rekon HRC have much more at stake in KR racing than we are lead to belive...

[there are sponsors in Formula One that pay three times as much for a sticker on a car, as what they could have a whole MotoGP team for]

[the TV stats in MotoGP are going up, and Formula One's going down.]

[Hopefully we're at the lowest. Because I've never seen the foot traffic so good and the money so low.]

It'd suck if KR is put out because of this.No one knows more about the MotoGP game than KR - they should make him the Ecclestone of MotoGP....but he wouldn't do it.

Thanks for that. A really interesting read. I always enjoy KR Seniors thoughts on bike racing issues.

It's so refreshing (albeit depressing) to be able to read what KR thinks, instead of the politically correct claptrap put out by the 'official' Dorna mouthpieces.
It would be a travesty if Roberts was allowed to leave MotoGP. All may be right with the racing, but there's a lot wrong if someone like Roberts can't organise funding for a whole season. He says he only needs the last 20%, which doesn't sound like a whole lot, but it's probably $5 million, which isn't chump change by any stretch.
I sure hope he manages to get sorted, it wouldn't be the same without a very competitive team mixing it with the factories. Hard to believe that Tech 3, Minolta and Ilmor can bring up the rear, and Roberts can't get onto the grid for lack of money.

Cheers

Mmmm. thanks for posting that. VERY interesting. It would be a bugger to lose those guys. I will be surprised if it is allowed to happen as there are many out there who see it as we do.
I suspect that Soup who are pretty close to the Robert are doing their bit to drive some money the Roberts way, by posting that. Hope it does help!!

BTW It is also significant that Yamaha (and Rossi) can't even attract some serious money??

Hey Barry, nice to see you popping over from Florida? and into KB with your thoughts.

You are right - that we are fortunate to have someone like King Kenny who says it how he sees it, and not just a mouthpiece who probably knows shit.

Cheers

I must say I seldom read the 'press releases' put out by the teams after every test day, practice or race - they are just so bloody boring, and you know whoever is 'quoted' had the 'quote' written by the PR flacks.

I'm actually 'popping' over on Thursday for 3 weeks. I'm not sure how I'd recognise anyone, but may be able to meet some of you at Pukekohe on the 11th, I need a NZ racing fix. Somehow I've never coincided my trips 'home' with Wanganui or Paeroa.

Cheers
