Bike seizedA MOTORCYCLIST riding an off-road bike in Oaklands, Rastrick, illegally on Tuesday, was stopped by police and his bike seized.
Coun Paul Rogan (Eng/Dem Rastrick), who has worked with community groups to prevent motorcyclists using land in the Lillands area, said it was likely the motorcyclist was trying to access the land.

A barrier has been put up to keep the bikers off the land after residents complained of noise and dirt.

“It appears the youngster was riding illegally, without a helmet. His bike was seized and it will be crushed,” he said. “I hope this will be a warning to others who ride their bikes illegally.” [Quote]

Seems that in the UK they can take and crush the bike even when they don't have proof of what you intend to do. A bit harsh when the only real offence was riding without a helmet

Yeah, whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty" ?

I am very nervous about laws that allow roadside confiscation of vehicles, or licences.

Just seems to violate the basic principle of your day in court, which is a basic principle of freedom that we have fought wars for.

Maybe one day, we will have to regain those freedoms by force, as history has shown us happens over and over again.
