FROSTY

Because of my job I've been spending more time than normal in a cage in the semidark and just fully dark hours.
On 4 occasions now Ive been caught napping by motorbikes.
Every time its been shitty weather and every time its been tiny tailights on the bikes.
I know cage drivers at the best of times barely notice us. But if your bike has a tailight thats on the smallish side ya might wanna adjust your riding to suit.
The same might apply to tiny indicators but that hasn't been a problem to me so far.
This ain't a complaint just a lil heads up guys. :2thumbsup

Some of those trail bikes are the worstest, should fit those flashing rear lights like pushbikers use i reckon

Back in the 70s Jap bikes had huge tail lamps, those lunch boxes Toads talks about, but now they are small and almost being hidden - part of the bike look.Fashion, the most impotant sales point of a bike.

Back in the 70s Jap bikes had huge tail lamps, those lunch boxes Toads talks about, but now they are small and almost being hidden - part of the bike look.Fashion, the most impotant sales point of a bike. But! (however) Despite the apparent fashionable down-sizing of said tail lamps, they are probably brighter. Generally. My fugly taillight f'rinstance has two (2!) bulbs within. However! (but) my mudguardless bike sprays so much road spooj on the thing, it's a wonder any light escapes from within its red confines.
I was following a new Beemer 3-summat sedan the other day (or was it a coupe? hmmm... probably irrelevant) and it had them New Fangled taillights which obviously LEDs (Lava Emitting Demons). They were fookingly annoyingly bright! And the confirminators were annoyingly Teutonically precise. None of this fading on/fading off nonsense - it was
ON!! OFF!! ON!! OFF!! ON!! OFF!!
(Think about it... you'll get the idea).
That's what we all need - those really bright new LEDs - what are they called? Photon Torpedoes? Neutron Stars? Hang on.....:spudwhat:
- Luxion Stars.
Them's the jobbies. Only 5W or summat, but that's nearly all light, as opposed to a good deal of heat in your conventional toaster-oven-cum-taillight globe.
So when you are being followed by a BDCD (BrainDeadCarDriver), first they'll get mesmerised by the Annoying Red Glare (and hopefully drive off the road and crash and die) or when you hit the brakes they'll go, "AAAARRRGHHH!!! MY Eyes!! I'm blind!! AaaarrrRRRghle!!!" and DEFINITELY drive off the road. And crash. And die.

One guy/gal I was following had black tinted rear lens. It made a dull tailight even worse.
Those Led lights are pretty darn good though.

No problem with small, dimly lit tail lights here. :DAre they standard to your bike?
Are they those ones that flash messages, like, "Spank Me!" or, "F&$% Off! You're too damned close!!" ?

Toads, you are young and perhaps lead a sheltered life because those shapes of tail light have been around for yonks and were all the rage with the "1%ers" years ago. Although I must admit to not seeing a working one for a while now, they seemed to disappear, a trend thing maybe?

I dunno that I'd actually wire some up;probably a better idea if you can't buy LED bulbs is to get a conversion kit like Jaycar Electronics sell.

They cost $60 from cool stuff formally USA Bikers in Rotovegas, they are getting in some LED ones soon, I'll wait for the ones with the blue dot, well I thought they were cool when I was a youth on the hot rods. I'm looking at fixing to the sissy bar as a histop lamp kind of thing. Hey why have a bike the same as every one else.

I think everybody should have *homo*Sexual Tailing bulbs like Shade.. his are in a twin round tailing style with LED's in a circle.. and when his lights are on they go round and round and round and change direction and speed and it really effectivly takes ur attention off hte road and onto the rear of his bike! (not good all too often!) And then when he brakes they go on off on off on off at different speeds and flash and all sorts, shit its a like a little circus going on inside that CBR250!...
Tony what about no tail lights at all? could that be more effective? And/or indicators that nobody can see unless they are right beside you (face it, thats all i care about, if ur in the lane right beside me ur the only person i want notified to get the hell outta the lane space im about to take!) hehe. I have an aftermarket higher wattage flasher unit and bulbs to make my indicators flash abnormally fast though.. i reckon its effective... also makes me feel better as when the road code says wait 3 seconds after indicating before lane changing.. my brain always interperated 3 flashes of the indicator... and now it means i can change lane alot more rapid! :P

Piss off KK -Ure just looking for an excuse to take more stuff off that poor little vfr :Oi:
I guess an argument could be you always go faster than the cages so why waste weight on stuff ya don't need.
Me Im so slow Ive fitted a full set of taillights off a stagecoach bus

And like you said, while they attract attention, they would also be rather distracting, so the person following you could end up driving into you anyway!
