HI,
I have a harsh gear engagement problem together with what feels like clutch slippage at medium to high speed on my GN250. Clutch housing, plates and springs has been replace in the past few months. Anything else to look out for?
THanks.

An incorrectly tensioned chain will make gear changes feel harsh.

... at medium to high speed on my GN250.

Sorry for the laughter - I have a Volty (GN250 in disguise) and the thought of going medium to high speed on it is really quite funny.

Adjust the clutch, the clutch cable and the chain.

Insufficient oil will make the gear changes harsh. Likewise, if the oil is past its use by date.

Change your oil and filter (use the recommended motorcycle oil), check your chain adjustment, and your clutch lever adjustment. The latter may need a 'tweak' after your rebuild.

As has been said many times before but the idea of the correct oil is so important, sometimes the oil contains friction modifiers which will mess up your clutch plates, and if you have any syncro rings. Sometimes the latest version of an oil you used in the past (which were fine) may now contain these chemicals and can be a bit of a trap as well.
But you knew this anyhow

May be barking up the wrong tree here but worth a shot..........on my TLS when the clutch plates are replaced the last one in is off set one notch....i found this out by doing it wrong............clutch engaged but but with same symptoms as you are talking about.
