hmmm, well my baby had her first wee setback today... was just finishing what i had decided was to be my last outing at the Sportszone Have A Go day at Ruapuna today in clubmans on Elsie, feeling a bit tired and as I had been extremely lucky and been able to ride my bucket in the C class, and was about to head out again, I thought I would finish a lap earlier and catch my breath. Probably extremely lucky I did, cos as i headed down the return road, a cough and a splutter, Elsie just died. :crybaby:
So i ran her back to the pits, grabbed my bucket, yelled at dangerous "I hope its just outa fuel" and went out for another absolute ball on the bucket.
So coming back in I was a little bit apprehensive about what the problem is and D says "I think it has seized" WTF?? but I was only puttering, no warning at all, and thank the stars i didn't decide to carry on.
So after pulling it apart tonight, we have what looks like a small graze on the piston no1 and even less on no2, no damage to the barrell, head etc. Guess it was lucky I grabbed the clutch as soon as it died... Could have been a WHOLE lot worse, I've seen some VERY sad 2 strokers cark it. Sad but thats 2 strokes for ya I guess, and soon enough she will be back as good as new.
At least now i can fix Elsie before winter series and the real racing begins again ;)
All in all a good day, the bucket and I had a ball, but thats another story.
A few pics of my baby and all her insides hangin out

Ya reckon? kinda could be aye, or more so the lack of oil, but I'm looking into it and will have a full report soon... Rashika was lucky that she came in a lap early tho, next to bugger all damage to the barrel, but will most likely bore out .5 over size.
Also I found the box full of water, so a seal may have gone aswell.

 ah huh, but there is the trick though, anyone can pull something to bits but the reassembly is a different matter :bleh: it'll either be a reliable engine or a hand grenade with an 'out of sight warranty'.

looking at the pics, the oil mix was too lean

Now I know I'm a worry wort, but what do you guys reckon:
1st the new pistons we have have a few diferancs, the port holes are much smaller and the old piston has a indentation above the gudgen hole?
does this many any thing?

2nd ok a few more pics of the damage on both pistons, what is your lots opion as to what went wrong?

Nothing went wrong , its part of the life cycle of the two stroke.
Use - Rebuild - use - rebuild - Use - Rebuild - use - rebuild

unlike the four stroke life cycle

Use- keep using - get bored - trade it in

Whats the green stuff on the pistons on the last two photos? Is it antifreeze? What type are you using?

a couple of wee marks not bad tho, however aparently well worn.
I heard from the privious owner, he said that TonyB's thoughts were correct... they are RZ pistons.

For fark sake gingernut, Get it bored to the next piston size, new gaskets and RD pistons put it back togeather and let Rashika ride the thing if you keep you ass off of the thing all will be good!

Im with Stanko it looks like any two stroke thats been thrashed. Please D tell the gathering masses who was riding the bike just before R went out for its last jaunt? This might shed some light on its demise.

You want to run something and I can not remember it's name to stop electrolyse.
If you go to a dirt bike shop you should be able to get something that is OK to be used on the track.
