He should have just gone around the bend once, instead of pushing his luck.

Doesn't look like he was going that fast, or do you think the video was slowed down?

No, too much lean a little too much gas, not enough tyre

he doesnt scrape his peg, so he still had more lean unless he was running road-touring type tyres.

'Man down, man down, medic', what are these army boys or something? Dedicated rider though, after the accident he's still practicing his knee down technique! Looks like there was fine dirt or something on the road where the back let go.

1st pass he was constant, 2nd pass he tested the throttle a little, 3rd pass a little faster and applied throttle sooner 75% around. This is what I picked up from watching it.

Gotta love the way his/her mates run to pick the bike up before seeing if he/she is ok while making jokes about medic and man down.

Typical highside: the back tyre started to slide, he chopped the throttle and it hooked up again and spat him off.
Why did the tyre start to slide?
Well, he was very close to the centreline on that pass, and I suspect he didn't want to get on the paint so leaned it a little bit more. Unfortunately, that wasn't a good line as all the dust and crap on the road tends to get brushed to the side of the main wheeltracks and into the centre. On a smooth surface like that it wouldn't take much dust/grit/road spooge to reduce the grip enough for a slide to start.
But isn't it great when people are posing for videos and it turns to custard? Reality TV at its best?

That's not a bad theory, but doesn't that apply only to Hardley Ablesons?

He should have held the throttle steady, or not wound off much at all, would have been a controlled drift out the exit of the corner...

Yeah 'cos that's easy to do in the heat of the moment...

It definitely looks like he got on the gas too early and because of his lean angle ran out of grip once on the gas. As soon as the back end slid out he immediately got off the throttle which is a normal and instinctive reaction and the tyre regripped tossing him into a dreaded highside. He was real lucky nothing was coming the other way eh?
