Well just got off the phone after waiting over a week for the "panel" to decide whether or not they"ll fund a $300 course in stage 3&4 conmputer studies.I asked acc when will they do my mediical assesment as I aneed to get educated or find a job as if I wait for them I will be waiting a long time. Now they have decided no funding for my course as I can wait the 3 weeks till my assesment and then I should be able to resume the same job I had before my crash....

conference call - you, your GP, ACC person.

Get them to sort it - pronto... don't hang up till it's done. If the ACC bod needs someone else at their end, get them on the phone too...

ACC Suck, My mother has had 2 spinal operations and could only be on her feet for a maximum of 20 minutes a day or she's a write off and after 12 years they now refused to pay for home help at $45.00 per month.... she had vacuumed the house on hands and knees before.... Thankfully all solved now but what a rigmarole....

What wankers. You'd think they have heaps of money to spare after spending $7000 to inform me via TV that they have me covered.

Sounds like you need a more competant GP for a start. If ACC can avoid paying out, they will, which is typical of any Govt department. There is the process within ACC where you can challenge their decisions. I dunno about everyone else, but ACC are currently doing a great job looking after me. You do have to follow their way of doing things, otherwise you get jack shit...

The golden rule. As annoying as it is, work with the system - you might just need to jump up and down to find out what the system is.....

Good luck!

You sound surprised that ACC would screw you over!!!
This is as common as muck they do this in hope you will give up asking them for some of the hard earned tax dollars that you have kindly donated to thier cause, to assist some murderer who fell off the wall while trying to escape prison and broke his leg requiring extensive medical treatment!!!
Get legal representation if they think you have a solid case they will pursue ACC to the ends of the earth for your compensation!! If not you're fucked and will have to join the rest of us coping with injuries and pain everyday of our lives!!
Don't give up ring the pricks until they are so sick of you they cave and pay out!!!!

and I've found that as long you follow the system they'll almost bend over backwards to help...

Persist. My friend persisted for 3.5 years and finally got results - hers should have been a straight forward case i.e. medical misadventure - hell no. Keep at it - won't be easy. Good luck and keep positive.

ACC is a joke - the only people it truly helps are mobile.
I found the only way to get them to co-operate with me was to box em into a corner.
Even last year i said to them i was going into hospital to get my leg done.......4 weeks after the op they still argued over it. This was 8 weeks after i had allready jacked everything up with them.
And i doubt i would have got any response for the next 3 years if i didn't make the first steps with my doctor. He helped me book everything and rushed it through the system at a private hospital, so i wouldn't have to wait on a list.
Not to bad considering i was only 6 months overdue to get it done anyhow.

the first case worker told me I had to have an inch of clavicle removed(was in 3 peices)...had that happened without a seecond opinion i would have lost all use of my arm!!!!!............not a procedure i wanted!!!!luckily the surgeon changed his mind and rebroke it insted!!then she abused the shit out of me for not having it done!!!!halooooooo i was on too much morphine to argue....

????

Case workers have NO business providing ANY input into medical decisions. If a case manager tries to influence your medical treatment in ANY way complain BIG time. It's a big big big no-no, and they can (and have been) sacked for it.

All govt organisations are accountable to a Minister of the crown. I think Ruth Dyson is the minister of ACC, you should be able to look it up on the internet and get her postal address. Send her a letter, her office will send an official letter to the RM or Area Manager of ACC, asking for information about your situation. And that’s all it’ll take.
One of the measures of success for all government departments is how many ‘ministerials’ they receive. They (we) always end up bending over backwards to sort things out rather than upset the Ministers office.

Well.....I have just been transfered to the Long Term Claims Dept in Auck. Will either be better or worse. No one told me the file was being transfered until the letter from new case manager.

My Occ therapist has no info forwarded to her, I have to supply it.

My Occ assesment identified a number of jobs suitable.... Number 1...Managing Director!

What a load of crock....

Any one had any dealings with LTCU in Auck?

ACC main priority is to get you back into your old job, then the next closest that you are qualified for. If you want to get into computers with training make sure it gets high up in the list of jobs you are partially qualified for or at least are very interested in on your Occ assesment.

As explained to me...No training for any thing not on list of suitable jobs...then only as little as possible.

Just my 2 cents...good luck

Good advice, recently have been down the track battling ACC with and on behalf of a friend/workmate.......he got the royal flick from ACC (he was returning to employment from a series of back operations, reinjured himself, and got hung out to dry) There are official places to make complaints to, use them, and if justified you can be sure you will be heard, otherwise take it further up the ladder.........play by their rules, do what they need you to do...........it works both ways....good luck!
