I was in Haldane motorcycles today and I saw this new Ducati. I can't remeber what it was called but its quite retro and I think there is a write-up on it in this month's NZ Autocar.
It is beautiful!! :love2:
Just wondered what others think are the best-looking bikes around.
I'm hot for anything Ducati or MV Agusta, especially the F4 SPR tht is my avatar. Anyone know if there are any of these in NZ?

The F4's always been top of my looker list.
And when I was a kid I always wanted an FXDWG.
Honourable mentions go to the ZX-7R and XB9R.

I think the bike you saw was the Ducati MH900ie (Mike hailwood replica). Only 2000 were sold worldwide and all sales were done via the internet. They all sold in approx 24 hours. (I think it was on new years eve 1999).
Cool looking bikes but they only have about 30 k's of gas in the tank so you could easily get stuck in the middle of no-where with no gas and a shiny bike.

No they don't. I've ridden an XB9S and it was a hoot. They only shake at idle, and quite frankly with my level of child induced sleep fatigue, I need something to keep me awake when I come to a halt. They start, stop, and go round corners like cockroaches on P too.

Must admit, I've only really paid attention while it was idling... it looked like one of those toy dogs that had the sh*t scared out of it. All trembling and timid.

if money was no option i'd have a MV F4 (Red and Silver) and a Ducati 916, 996, or 998 sitting in the lounge on either side of the TV. Sex on wheels the both of them!
Have to agree with Jim2 that the Buell tester (I think it was the XB9S... WT will correct me if I'm wrong) completely changed my pre-conceived opinion of them within one block... a great bike to throw around and you can really have a bloody good play with a lot of confidence... I loved it. (but wouldn't buy one of course... it's a bloody harley by another name :msn-wink: )

I knew a guy who kept his Ducati in his lounge, not because it was good-looking (it wasn't) but because he had only a carport, not a gargre. It was a Paso, which is not one of the prettier Ducatis (they apparently stuck a big ugly piece of tupperware on it to try to make the air-cooled engine quiet enough for Yurpeen regulations).
He got sick of the expense of running the Paso and bought a Moto Guzzi (which didn't live in his lounge).

I'm pretty sure it was only done on the early XLV750 for Europe, but we never got that model so I wouldn't know squat. It'd look great on an XR600 though - hey,my TLR200 has the red/white/blue paint job, maybe I should do the engine and hubs in red....nah,then I'd have to do the XLV750 to match!

I like sportbikes - nothing else does it for me.
I don't really favour one manufacturer over another because they all put out great bikes. The last 5 years have pumped out some very nice looking machines, but I still think the rice burners look just as beautiful as anything three times their price in the Ducati, Aprilia, or Augusta range!
Currently I have a thing for CBR's.

I may be slightly biased, but the new R1 is the best looking bike I've ever seen... Now, don't get me wrong, I'd bloody love to own a F4, Ducati 999 or an Aprilia RSVR Factory, but, imho, none of them look as good as the R1.
I mean, what are Ducati doing with their headlights? They just don't do it for me.

Pretty impressive want list! Sure you've covered enough brands and continents? Back in seventy something a friend had a 73 Duke 750GT with Dunstall pipes. Still the best sounding bike I've ever heard. Idled sooo slow you could enjoy the pause between each firing. I can pick my want list from the above; GT750, MV, TNT & Rocket III. Sweet dreams all.
