today at work our office lady was running very late so i gave her a call to make sure everything was sweet.

she then told me that four weeks ago they had brought off trade me a KTM85cc big wheel for there son who loves motorbikes more than anything in the world....they couldnt really afford to buy the bike but took out a loan to do so because they want there son to progress and make something of himself while doin something he loves doin.

when they picked up the bike it was a running rough and had stuffed plastics on it so in went a new piston kit and plastics at another 600 bucks on top of the 3500 bucks already spent....

then this morning the police turned up on there door step with a search warrent.....turns out the bike was stolen from cambridge a few weeks before this family had brought it of trade me....so on the back of the truck it went back to the owner who it was stolen off.

now im sure the kid who had his bike stolen in the first place was real upset and pissed off....and im glad he got it back...

to the guy who stole it and sold it to this family FUCK YOU!!!! I HOPE THE COPS GET YOU YA PEICE OF SHIT!!!!! AND I HOPE YA GET FUCKED UP THE ARSE IN JAIL!!! you have left a strugling family 4 grand out of pocket and a kid with no bike cause the one he had was sold to cover some of the cost of the new one....

Mate I am very sorry to hear that:gob: Why do we do this sort of stuff to each other.

I know that we do need to be careful when we buy stuff, but that story really sounds like it hurts:shit:

yeah poor kid just got his race licence for the inter school motor cross....now he has no bike to race...im just hopping they catch the guy and that the family that had the bike stolen in the first place pay this family for the plastics and piston kit they have put on the bike...they would have needed to do it to the bike anyway.

if this bike was stolen of anyone on KB PM me if you would like the phone number of this family and would like to speak to them

That really sucks.

I take it they didn't bother with the VIN report for around $30 and available online?

Actually I feel more inclined to donate $10 to this family than the bloody HRC, so where is III?

hopefully the family it was stolen from have claimed insurance, then the kind insurance company could GIVEit back to the new owner, hand off dick they won't do that too simple,as an aside i think there should be some way of making a cheap i.e $10 to register all bikes off road e.g motox or farm that don't get ridden on the road, when sold you can check the numbers of frame and/or engine, then if no numbers it's dodgy.wife worked for funeral directors in dorkland a while ago and the fucken lowlfe pricks who could read were stealing from the bereaved house as they new family would be away for most of day, they would get the address from the funeral notice which might say all messages to ...address,and check in phone book or electoral role where dead person lived, one island family were done 3 days before xmas stole everything under the tree, the bloody food for afterwards, all drink, and the food from pantry, shows how caring some folks are .

yeah i mentioned the vin check to them today but they thought cause it was not a road bike and had no plates there would be no record of it....now they know better....sucks they found out the hard way

So how did the cops know where to go to find this stolen bike? They could only have found out from the trade me seller surely?

they where telling me today that they had re advertized the ktm85 on trade me because they where short of cash and it was either the kids bike or the old mans bike what ever went first...if the kids bike sold.... as soon as the old mans went they were goin to replace his boys with another one...lucky his dads bike sold first but unluckly the old owners reconized the ktm on trade me and called the fuzz

Trademe should have IP logging - they will be able to find out the IP address of the advertiser, then via the ISP find the associated user.

They don't have IP logging? Well, that's a shit on-line trading service, isn't it. Where's the protection against things like this occuring every day? Pretty sweet: steal something, use a stolen credit card to set up your account and then flog the stolen goods knowing that they haven't got the means to trace you.

Trademe should adhere to basic security guidelines.

Sorry to hear about that kid and the hassles with the bike.

Is there any way of tracking them down via the contact made after the aution - phone calls, emails, did they pick up the bike from somewhere or did the crims deliver it?

Sorry to hear about the low life who stole yr money 4 the sale of a stolen bike. It absolutely disgusts me that there are people out there who feel no remorse 4 their low life actions. Just remember this what goes around comes around and 1 day they will get theres and heres hoping that when they do that they get it Big Time.

Why does everyone usually associate crims with being thick. Seems like here they had it pretty sorted. The pro's are probably watching us for the odd detail we think is irrelevant. How do you know they are not watching where you meet takin a few details, rego's doin a search up pops address etc they know you are away for a while doing the coro or whatever. They don't care about 9/11 consiracy theory BS they are just using the technology. Bro gets caught they all learn from it, ie evidence presented in court. Use it as intelligence for next burg or stuff. They are not stupid. We are for thinking they are.

Understood - and respected. It's not our job to determine the guilt or otherwise (if we actually KNOW he's guilty - that's a different issue)

Let me know if you want/need a hand with this at some point. I enjoy tracking down mofos... slowly but surely.

The trademe ad show sellers "address verified", so either the cops can get the address off trademe or address verification isn't worth a knob of goat shit.
