Today was my first peg-scrape!
I had the morning off, so went to see the motorbikes at the Southward Car museum, then back over the Paikakariki Hill Road, (awesome, no gravel, no traffic)
And then I got a peg down! Just once, but it's my first.
I swore loudly in fright until I realised it was just the foot-peg, nothing terrible had happened.
Yehaa!
GN250's got what it takes!

I thought the pegs on the GN were solid no? If they don't fold then I'd be careful about getting the pegs down in case they bite. Won't look sooo cool then.

Yep, they fold. Who on earth would design a footpeg that didn't fold!?

My new tyres feel like they want to give way when on the pegs, so normally I don't lean so hard and I only ever scrape the pegs when the shitty suspension bottoms out on a corner
Yay!

A lot of the bikes back in the 60's and early 70's didn't have folding footpegs.
Made life very interesting in the twisties with everyone doing ballet type pirrouettes :)
Good on ya mate. Like everyone, first time you get a bit of a fright and can easily react by standing the bike up a bit which kinda stuffs your cornering line somewhat.
Once you been there and done that, it becomes a common occurrence and scraping the stand and other solid bits comes next with a little more care obviously as that is inclined to take the weight of the tyres and play havoc with grip.

Yes in the 60s most if not all bikes had fixed pegs.My A7 Shooting Star pegs[or foot rests as we called them then]were ground off at about 45 degrees from constant scraping.About 10 of us would go out at night and all try to touch down on one particular tight corner. The shower of sparks was fantastic! The bikes we rode are now classics,Triumph 350s,Bonnevils,A7s,A10s,Domminator 500s,Matchless or AJS 500s,and one mate on a venom.
Those were the days!

Always a nice feeling that first one. Remember mine vividly.
Mate of mine has got a ZXR 250 and I was very surprised to see his pegs didn't fold! Is that the same on all zxr's or is his a special breed?

Good on ya, hope to get there myself one day.......and since those 'reserve traction' strips (more commonly refered to as chicken strips) are getting smaller ya never know I might do it yet.
Nice one, the only peg scrape I've had was at the same time my ass was scaping the seal!
And hopefully my ass will stay on the seat

She's trying, but I've already bought TWO bikes as a replacement. Sorry old Ginny, it's time to pass you on to somebody else who will love you.
