Hi all. My name is Tanya and Im the proud owner of a triumph sprint. I have been back from usa for 2 months. Bought my bike (was riding in states on katana 750 for a year) on the 8th of feb and took off to the harley rally in auckland on 11th. A group me, dad and 4 of his friends traveled the north for 2 weeks. I forgot how beautiful my country is! We did 4000 ks and had a great time except......... I hit shingle and layed her down. Bit of road rash, panniers saved my leg and about 3000 damage to fairings. I snaped my back brake and had to ride 4 hours with none.....quite a challange on north island roads. Anyways Im back in Christchurch, Halswell, not working and bored. Ill ride anytime anywhere and was thinking of perhaps going to Kiakora for a couple days camping on the bike. Really just looking for an excuse to ride. I dont know anyone else who rides and riding with dad at my age 30 is getting boring lol. So if anyones bored or wanna maybe ride to akoroa just because we can..............please hit me up :) I consider myself a newbie with experience hehehehe.

Would love to. Any excuse for a ride but can't as I am stuck at work in the Waikato. Mind you I sell Motorcycles so I can think of a lot worse jobs to be doing. Hope you get some good riding in. Next time you are up this way look us up at Waikato Yamaha.

Hi Tanya (it's been 3 days since my last ride)

No No...not the ride.....ride was awesome.....riding with my dad is cramping my style.......what goes on tour doesnt stay on tour when your riding with your dad lol. I have to behave and any man who speaks to me gets a fathers questioning ..........like a simple question like "what bike do you ride" could mean a future son in law. Hes trying to marry me off!!!!!

You and the old man should head out to the Sound of Thunder this weekend. I'm racing in F2 and Superstock- it'll be easy to tell which one I am, I'll be on a red Ducati Monster, number 144...... and I'll be at the back.... waaaaay back.

I play softball in Christchurch too. At least, I do when I'm at home :weep: Only started this season, so I played slow pitch before I left. It was good fun but not quite competitive enough for my liking, so I'll have to move up to fastpitch next season I reckon.
I'd happily go for a ride with you, only I'm in England on my OE until the middle of April, so I guess it'll have to wait! But yeah when I was still in NZ I was often looking for someone to go for a ride with on account of being bored, so I'm sure we can work something out. :)

Nah seriously most of us are boringly at work. There will possibly a few at the track on the weekend.
If I had of known yesterday morn, I would have given you a yell for a ride. Sadly it was the last of my free Mon- Wednes as my roster has changed & I have picked up more days, the trade off for getting 2 weekends of a month now.

Common with riders of less experience when they ride in their first strong wind, or rain etc.

hmmmm well im not sure what id be. When we rode up north (me and 5 harleys) we sat on 120.... rain I def slow down.... I usually look at the corner signs, above 30 and add 20 or so....so a 75 corner ill take at 100 without slowing before if permitting. Sweepers I can see through Ill throttle hard out of but if I cant see round (hills etc) Ill slow down till I can see where im heading. I sux downhill cornering but havent been passed by a cager yet. On desert road I had her to 160 but it was dead straight and actually nearly pooped my pants when I looked down. Trouble with my new triumph is you pick up 20 30 ks without even noticing. Dad says you lose your lic here real quick for speeding and fast on straights is Boring anyways. Anyone can do that. So id prob alone def keep it 20 or so to speed limit. So am I a Nana?

By the way....up north the 18 wheeler trucks haul ass. I had to do 150 up hill to pass one in a passing bay! They have warnings up there for corners that say 95! Most trucks will run averaging 120........

I agree. Coming off def made me realize the damage that can be done. I was very lucky and going 30. Was more a stop and drop but im still licking the wounds. Plus you see more, at times I wished the harleys would slow down especially round the coastal areas. Speed isnt my thing but im not going to lie I love that feeling when you tuck down turn the throttle and feel the pull :)

Yeah they were unbelievable! There was random road works when I went through and I had the same prob with trucks. Being I had come off the day before I was def clicking down gears on the gravel roadworks and the trucks were right up my ass. If I had lost it they were so close they woulda gone straight over me unable to stop. I swear they also speed up as your passing them! The one I had to do 150 just to pass was 18 wheeler and was going up a steep incline! They just haul ass up there. Trucks go faster than the cars..................

Paul in NZ
23rd February 2007, 09:15
yeah but these are professional drivers doing good for our business community and the trucks are limited to 90kph anyway and can we please have bigger ones..

Farkin' maniacs a lot of them. 90kph my arse... I commute in a Starlet which is quite happy and 110kph but it's bloody scary getting overtaken by those things and having an 0800 hows my driving if you can't see my mirrors I don't have to care about you sticker... lately it seems more loons than regular truckies too...

trump-lady
23rd February 2007, 09:21
At least many will pull to the side. But that causes a prob cause sometimes they are going so fast Im quite happy to sit behind them. If theres no debrie flying off em. But then they ride the shoulder to let you pass......... so you take it then have to put some distance between you and them. One of the guys who rode with us was a trucky. He said ride the white line in their right mirror and they will move over for you....most did. Even he couldnt believe they drive so fast....

Your not a nana when there is tents and things in your way ????? :gob:

sowey

I like bushbashing it is a fun sport, pity certain people move the obstacle course before I can play :innocent:

hmmmm well im not sure what id be.

Sound like one to me :dodge:
But that is how ya have a chance of keeping ya licence around here.

... but im not going to lie I love that feeling when you tuck down turn the throttle and feel the pull :)
