Yeah... I took a Honda X4 for a ride on the weekend. Great torque at 1300cc, but definitely a cruiser with the front suspension set up and ground clearance (I scrapped my boot on the ground doing 30kph around a gentle corner). I haven't tried the Yamaha XJ before, have you ridden one? I suspect that it too is a tamer version of the X11. I gota admit I like having a bit of fun through the corners! Up for Thurs again?

No Mate I havent but owned an XJ750 many moons ago, certainly would be a different propsition to this one.

I did strongly consider the XJRs while I was looking for a bike but didnt get to audition one before the X11 came up.

The bits I like are condition for age with a few bits of fruit that may make it run a bit stronger than standard. I dont think it would have the same grunt as the X11

I still reckon you should have a crack on the ZRX1200S

I'll give you a bell, may miss thursday but Mrs JB has given indicative approval for a blast on Saturday - Maybe 11.00am, blast and burger scenario, got to be back in time to get to the Shore by 5.00 so thinking Awhitu if you're up for that

Having ridden Jimmy B's X11 round the Coro Loop, I can say that it must be one of the most underrated bikes around. They handle well and are one of the fastest naked bikes available. I've seen a performance test against sport bikes like the R1 and Blade and it eats the lot of them at the bottom end and mid-range. I believe it too. Unfortunately, Honda released them in some crap colours which IMHO made them look as ugly as sin. Jimmy B had his painted gloss black, including the instrument cluster and radiator cover and it's made the world of difference, really brutal like the Speed Triple. I'd be happy to own one if I didn't have the 'bird.
