Hi from an ex-Pom!

I'm a research engineer who emigrated from West London to the Hutt back in September, but due to a cock-up by the shipping company only got my bike back at the weekend. Been riding since I was 16, following in the lines of my parents (my mum only stopped riding after a nasty accident just after her 68th birthday).

Roads here are a bit different to what I'm used to as I used to do big motorway miles and heavy town congestion (work) on my hack (a GPZ1000RX), and only rode the Bird at the weekends. So if you see me on a ride-out take it gentle on me whilst I get back in the saddle again after 6 months off and get used to some of the roads here. (I felt like a complete amatuer going over the Rimutakas at the weekend).

Keep it shiny side up!

Nice to see another 'bird owner Rod. Had mine for 5+ years and have quite a few mods on it. Among the mods, I have a "Rider" seat on it from Tauranga and numb bum on a long haul is a thing of the past. Twin 100W Xenon bulbs do the biz both night and day - I want to be seen. The 6mm ride height spacer makes a huge difference to the handling - have you got one?

Finally, get yourself a decent radar detector if you haven't got one already, it helps the odds a bit!

If you see 4 blue 'birds arriving in Lower Hutt on the 3rd March, it will be us for a ferry crossing the next morning.

Cheers

Geoff

Welcome to the site BigRod.

Kiwibiker members are plentiful in the Hutt and there are regular rides organised, so maybe see you out there sometime.

Thanks everyone, much appreciated.

Well ......after a wednesday TWNCR and the breakfast run to Carteton, followed by the Gladstone loop, I'm sure I must have met a few of you this last week.

Keep it shiny side up!

Hi Rod, hope to see you out there sometime soon, come over and say hi ok!:sunny: Ride safe.

Beware of Mrs Kendog, BR. She's secretly wondering if your "handle" has anything to do with your manhood.

But welcome to the pot-pourri of wit, chat, debate, humour, sadness, sarcasm, information, argument, personal abuse and absolute drivel that is Kiwi Biker.

Which part of West London do you come from? I'm a Hillingdon man myself.

Good to have you here in Wellington. Hope to see you on a Wednesday night ride.

Well Wednesday evening was a bit of fun from the duckpond, but I found I was still very rusty. Sunday with Davey and Andy on the Breakfast run followed by a blast around the Martinborough / Gladstone loop both ways helped me find my seat a bit better. Added entertainment from a Kamikaze sparrow 'blooding' Andy's leathers and a magpie going in for a kill.

Unfortunately I'm under house arrest this Wed by SWMBO as we move house on Thurs, but will be down next Wed.

Ceebie13: I lived in Northolt, Hayes, Hillingdon and more recently in Colnbrook. Could say I know Hillingdon rather well.

....

Rod

P.S. BigRod *might* just be my name only - only one way to find out!

I lived in Northolt...

Ah so you are.....Thermo Man!!! How's Janet?

Well, what a small world?
I grew up (if you can call it that!) on the Oak Farm Estate and went to school at Abbotsfield (oh the shame!)

Hope to see you out and about at some point.
