Hi

I have a cracked engine crank case cover on NC30 .... riders right side.

Can you weld these to fix do you know?

Or does anyone know of a spare one I can buy ..

1989 Honda VFR400R (Nc30)

Cheers, Rob

Just remove it & get it welded,it has to be flush at the gasket surface so it will seal
But more to the point, what has caused it to crack(accident damage?)
If you cant get it welded use the mighty Knead-it,fantastic stuff

You should know better mate, that Knead it stuff might be ok for an emergency fix, but really is potentually very dangerous when the oil does get through it and all over your tyre.

Buy a new one, or Put it in an dish washer with lots of Dish washing powder to get rid of all the shit out of the Alloy before trying to get it welded up

Honda don't tend to use magnesium as much as yam (used to). But always worth having a look to see if that is written (cast) on the cover somewhere, welder will need to know.

An epoxy repair is good too if you know a boat builder.

My bandit was repaired that way, doesnt look great but its a quick and easy fix and is probably stronger than the metal.

If you've got access to a MAPP or oxyacet welder, you could try some durafix.

Get the cover welded by a tig welder go into a local welding specialist in wellington and ask him to do a perky for you it may cost a dozen beers but may be cheaper than anew part.

Wonder why it is thought that tradespeople will perform any task for $13 of cut price beer of the brand they probably don't drink anyway?
