Hey all,

Time to look at buying my first bike...
I've managed to find http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=89455688&key=190539 in my travels. I'm curious what you think of it, and what you think its worth?

Never done much maintenance work before so will it be easy enough to keep running smoothly for a couple of years without costing too much?

And living in Dunedin means its a bit of a hike to go take it for a test ride... Was wondering if anyone living up in Blenheim would be keen to go have a look at it for me and let me know if it looks ok?

Many Thanks,
Delph

That trader doesn't appear to be well respected. If the bike IS genuine, then expect it to go for over $6000, or more, since k's are very low.

I wonder why he's buying all those tools...

If he's bought the manual and is selling, does that look good? Don't think so.

I gave him a ring, rekons the manual was purchased because he heard from 1 garage to test oil on its stand, and the other garage to test it standing up, and wanted the manual to be sure.
Service wise he brought the bike in Dec "had just come across from UK and couldn't drive a car so got a bike until his full license was processed". Got the bike from another guy in the sth island for $5k and since then had the oil changed, spark plugs left. valves checked but ok.
He's dropped it at the petrol station so a few cracks and nicks here and there. Got new mirrors and visor on the way and selling with those as the old ones are a bit worse for wear. Petrol tank has a 2cm diameter dent in it.

I dunno. I don't buy that. You're allowed to drive on a UK licence for a year and also, the bike has L plates and also a decent person would mention the damage in the ad... go figure

If you proceed to have a look at this bike, make sure you do a VIN check seems almost a little dodgy.
