Hello every1..
Just got my 1st bike today, shes a ZXR250.. and my mate told me to join KB to get started and get help.
I'm working on the rode code to get my learners. Went for a ride today around my area, had a few too many stalls :second:
This is my first thread to get me started :Punk:

just some advice mate. as you have the 89 zxr250 why not pull the plastic off for now.. that way if (you probably will.. everyone does :)) you drop it then you won't ding it all up! the 89 has headlights connected to the subframe not the front plastic like the 91+ (c model)... might save you some coin and some damage in the future, just keep that in mind. practice in the albany stadium carpark/roads, real good place for it.
welcome to kb..

Welcome, and congrats on the bike!
Remember you need to get your basic handling skills cert before sitting the learner licence test.
In case you haven't found it yourself - here is a link (http://www.drivinginstructor.co.nz/index.php?goto_page=courses/test_menu.php)to the tests online - choose your answers and then the site will score them for you. I found learning the questions online far easier than using the road code. Last time I looked at the tests, they only had the multi choice questions, not any of the give way "picture" questions etc, so you will still need to study the road code for those.
Remember to find somewhere safe, quiet and off the road to practice until you have your learners!
Good luck, keep your cool and practice, practice, practice!

i am doing it in South Auckland, also includes a 3 hour lesson - which i thought was a good idea jsut to get some tips and confidence up before test and also for when riding on my own. But if you are riding all ready you probably dont need review thing - i havent ridden now for a bout 15 years, so think it is a good thing for me.Do a search on google under Motorcycle riding shcools and they will come up - most do just test or test & lesson.
I also had an offer from on of the bike shops to just do the test ( on a scooter in the carpark) for $50 but for peace of mind think i am better off doing the three hour review/lesson on a proper 250. Let me know if any probs and can give you numbers. Good luck either way :)

WElcome aboard, once you sift through the shit you can find lots of great info, I found actually meeting up with people for rides the best way to get tips... there is always someone willing to help you out if you are willing to listen :D

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the learning. Just make sure you take it easy and don't try and progress too fast. Things have a way of biting back if you get too up yourself and think you are better than you are. Remember, Practice, Practice, Practice.

Hope you have fun here.Hey dude, for $5 for you can get the actual tests from the AA & have a pre run as it were. Very helpful I found. I studied up on the RC over the weekend & then did the tests (5 in a pack for $5) . When Monday morning rolled around went in and aced the test.
Ok I got one wrong :innocent: but it was the easiest question. I was rushing towards the end as they were all so bloody easy.

Hi there, I'm new to KB too and am in the market for a new bike (read my other thread to find out why).
I did my Basic Handling first with Riderskills in AKL :scooter: (sorry south Islanders) and will be doing the "scratch Test soon" - I hate tests. Basically because I'd never ridden before and was glad I did.

welcome to the mad house
I completed basic handling just over a week ago & sat learners last monday ...
for the learners you need to complete 25 car questions & 10 bike specific quetions .. I found this site useful to practice all 70 bike questions & some car ones .. they are the exact questions that you could be required to answer

First welcome and second congrats on getting the best make of bike in the world. ZXR's 250 and up rule. Some of the city boys will try an tell u they are heavy and dont corner well. Tell them to piss off as they are just soft city slickers who are used to power steering. ZXR,s are heaps of fun and they hold there own on the road and not to mention have a very successfull past on the circuit. Also we are trying to get a zxr bike maintainance class together as many of us own these racing pedigrees and want to learn how to keep them in top shape. Give me a yell if your keen and ill add you to the list.

I got my first bike last May and have progressed with a fairly disciplined approach. I appreciate a lot of you newbies will not have the time and patience pehaps, and will want to get out and about as soon as you can. The best thing you can do is seek out an experienced mentor in your area.
Here is a link to the past 10mths for you to scan through. Remember take your time be patient and focus on only a few things each time you go out for a ride.
