Woodhill Forest closed till further notice [Archive]

Just had an email from Greg Power saying the Woodhill Motorcycle Park is closed till further notice - anyone know anything about this? What's the problem?

It's not the greatest of venues, but it's one of the few ones Auckland has so hopefully it's nothing major. Fire risk perhaps? How dry has it been up there lately?

I dunno, but it was pretty wet on the beach last time I rode there.

Going off what the guy told me on the phone on sat the ground temp is too high cant be any higher than 35 and it was 39 on sat. So yea fire risk

Yeah it was just the fire risk. A bunch of us were at the entrance to the forest from 7.00am to about 7.45 Saturday when some one finally found out that the forest was closed due to fire risk. Would have been nice to have had a sign up or some thing to tell us so.
Now we need some rain.

Would be nice if there was a web page somewhere which showed if the park is open, closed, unmanned, etc

Saves time of traveling accross town to find the gates locked...

had some rain today so this probably brought down the fire risk...
