View Full Version : Been married 25 years today
Oakie
27th February 2007, 17:14
27 Feb 1982 Mrs Oakie and I got married.
I took the day off work today so we could have the day together and celebrate. We were going to have a champagne breakfast but decided that the bubbly wouldn't go that well with toast and muesli so we had it with lunch instead.
How did we celebrate? We went and got matching tatoos of our linked initials with a wee '25' at the side as per the attachment. Most cool!
Still got the major celebration coming up when we head off to Samoa in June for 9 days to mark the 25 years.
Now looking forward to the next 25 years.

Congrats on reaching the Silver. Cool Tatoo's.
I've got a similar thing happening later in the year. '82' must have been a good year
I don't think I could persuade my better half to go that far though!

Beatcha 30 years on 26th feb (yesterday) she is in Rotorua tonight I head off to March hare Thursday thats how you make it last. The less you are around the less pain ie less tatts. Joint accounts helps me ( she doesn't have access to my account and earns twice mine but I have unlimited access to the joint account) I really love that. matching tatoos of our linked initials
Oooh, that's an awesome idea. So much more 'repurposeable' after you break up. I was going to get Mrs Fish's first name tattooed on my shoulder, but I think I'll go with her initials...

Well done!25 years, thats awesome. I have just celebrated our 21st Anniversary last weekend with a ride to Mt Cook and back, Scenery was indescribable and the weather was almost too hot for riding in the Makenzie basin. I hope you both have another 25 years togethor.

Actually I suggested a piercing for our 50th. The response was clear and in the negative!

Ahh, the Mount Cook Road. Must have travelled that road about 1200 times in the 7 1/2 years I worked at Mount Cook. Most of it unfortunately in a bus and never once on a bike though. Always thought it would be a great bike road as well as the bit from Tekapo to the Mount Cook turnoff at Lake Pukaki.
Detroitdiesel
27th February 2007, 21:36
The road is a must do if you have a bike and a camera I nearly crashed while not looking where I was riding as I was looking at Mt Cook with no clouds and lake Pukaki was a mirror it was so distracting I had to pull over and stop.

I've been married 34 years this year, but it wasn't to the same woman!!
Which reminds me of that famous one-liner, "How many wives have you had?" Answer, "Several, but I wasn't married to them all!"

Yeah. I'm pleased to say that it's still fun after all these years and that we would rather be in each other's company rather than 'go out with the boys/girls'.
We've almost become like one organism instead of two and of course we've been thinking or saying the same thing at the same time for years. What is new over the past year though is me going to check my cell phone to see if there is a TXT from Mrs Oakie ... and a TXT arrives from her just as I pick it up. That is freaky!

I suppose you COULD say that - but there WAS a long gap in the middle where we went different ways.:(

Once you hit 30 years, you're to old to start again anyway, you may as well resign yourself to life together...
Congratulations! And if personal experience is anything to go by it can only get better too! 35 for us this Oct.
