Greetings and Salutations tax dodgers, lane splitters and post modern fighter pilots.
I have come back to the fold after 3 yrs of deregistering the bike, so I got another just like the other. GB400.
Cheap and not too fast, cos I think I'm Vale as it is!
As this is my maiden blog /sumbmisson ever on the web I shall bore the crap out of any poor sucker who reads this drivel.
I s'pose we all have stories of diff rides etc, heres one of my first long ride back on two wheels. 1330 odd kms in three days and took me old knees two weeks to recover.
I took a jaunt up to Whangarei a couple of wkends ago for a mates wedding. I'm from Gissy now and the Waioeka gorge is great, then via Ohope gorge, Karangahake gorge, Miranda and Maraetai as usual then SH 1 to whangarei. an hour to spare before wedding.
the wedding was fantastic cos me mate has just discovered bikes finally(can't help these bankers eh?)
The ride back was interesting cos there are these cheapy Kenda tyres on the bike, virtually brand new tyres. I had some rain from Waipu to Dome Valley. didn't think much about the rain cos the bike don't go fast, until first 75km cnr on brenderwyns when both tyres started slippin and slidin like cat shit on a linoleum floor. after about 38 brown trouser alerts, I pulled into a servo at Wellsford to check tyre pressue and if oil was leaking onto rear tyre. nope to all but a crap tyre.
Obviously not recomended for use in the wet.
I actually had to do recomended cnr speeds or less while hanging off trying to keep bike as upright as possible.insert cheesy yellow thing of choice.
I'm too cheap to waste brand new tyres so I may have to restrict riding to sunshine days or just burn the bloody things. They do slip a bit in the dry too.
sunshine from Auckland home. No further incedents apart from hundreds of women cyclists on ride back from Cleveden riding with their tops unzipped to cool down heading the other way, repetitive neck and eye strain.
two interesting things happened in the Waioeka gorge on way home, spotted a bit of bambi on side of road. First time ever and I'm on the bike!!
The next was a VROD HD that I nearly rode up the back of. Sorry M4RIA.
They just don't like corners do they. the HD's that is. Took me a bit by surprise, cruising is just that I 'spose.
well the lil gb went like a bomb. Reckon I'll have to sling a bigger donk into it.
but that'll be another story.
If you read down to here??
