GRR. I have been paking in the bike parking all week on princess st and yesterday I noticed a sign that said the road would be closed but I didn't catch the date. Anyway I rocked up this morning and no more sign, sweet I thinks must be next week sometime, also there were plenty other bikes there. So i proceed to lock the bike up (disc lock) and head off to my lecture. When i'm walking back to my bike I notice alot of the bikes have been moved onto the footpath and they were in the process of moving mine, EXCEPT mine wouldn't move properly, disc lock, and i see the tow trukie just rocking the bike foward and back smashing the disk lock against the front fork !!!! What a fucken muppet, DUH bike won't move so i'll just keep smashing it and smashing it until it moves WHAT THE FUCK! I see him and yell at him from across the road "what the fuck are you doing shit for brains?" this gets him pretty pissed off and hes alot bigger then me
towie "who you talkin to?"
me "you dumbass, can't you see the lock???"
luckily I didn't get a hiding and luckily the lock was going against the forks and not the brakes.
i fully admit my fault for parking there but seriously, if something don't move y would you just keep doing it.
pisses me off, and the ticket was $40 dollar.

forgot to mention that they took the orange sign away but instead taped a sign over the bike parking sign to Authorised vehicles only. who the fuck looks at the sign with a little bike on it when you have been parking there everyday for ever? Bit stupid really, in my opinion.

the worst thing is they would legally be able to fuck your front disc totally, damage your bike while lifting it into the truck, drop it, and accidentally reverse over it, and they'd get away with it, no liability to them.
Towtruck companies should be responsible for the damage they cause, 100%.
Towies are on my list of people to kill when I finally snap and go postal. Other people in my "to die" list include;
Courier van drivers.
Police assistant comissioners.
My boss.
THe guy who swore at me the other day.
Etc etc.

They ARE liable - its called reckless (intentional) damage under both the summary offences and crimes act. Quite simply put you can't damage other peoples stuff.
Steam, that list made me laugh!!

Do you know when they did that? Before or after you parked there?
Could be an "out" for your parking ticket.

Gimme a yell when you're about ready, I've a few scores to settle myself. I'm feeling that just random killing would be far more satisfying in some ways though.

Probably none.
The nearest intersection at work switched from give way to stop recently. Didn't know about it till one day I noticed, "Hey, fresh paint, WTF, it's yellow, ah the stupid painter must've used the wrong colour ..." Next day I look at the intersection sign, yip, it's a stop sign now :(
Riding by memory could prove expensive one of these days :Police: :dodge:

Meh. I wroyte this up before and then deleted it because I saw Palmy and thought I'd mixed the cities.
So, have they now removed the bike parking on Prince's st - as well as taking away the ones in Alfred st?

Nah, Princes Street is just closed for the Lantern Festival in Albert Park (http://www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/whatson/events/lantern/default.asp)this weekend.
Bike parks will be back next week.

Aye, yes -- just got home from that. Parked at the top of Alfred (Albert? Can never remember) St FYI.
Was a grand night! Spent the whole night with the girlfriend, eating and listening and watching gong fu. Then the mother turned up and gave me red pockets (:first:) and we went for dinner. But :whocares:, lol.
Sorry to hear about the ticket, Klown. If you knew more Chinese people this wouldn't've happened, hahaha!

Be worth contesting, explain it as you have here about the signage being gone, not seeing the taped over sign where you have parked for ages etc etc... nothing to lose by asking, may gain $40 by doing so...

yeah, i'm gonna give it ago. Nothing to loose. The thing that pisses me off the most is the towie who couldn't figure out that when somthing dosent move there is usually a reason for it.
