I've noticed a small improvement in my riding after doing a few things, so I thought I'd share it and it would be of use to some riders who are in the same learning curb as myself.

Big up's to Quasi for informing me about the wonderful book "A Twist of the Wrist" when I was a complete noob. Since then I've read the book briefly and it's a very informative book. Things I learnt from it would have otherwise probably taken years. So get a copy and get reading. And I will definitely get hold of the DVD and more of Keith Codes publishing.

I've just recently changed my tyres to GPR 100's as my preference has been Dunlop. They are more than enough grip you would need in all weather. Tyres are very important and I can feel the vast difference in performance compared to previous tyres.

For those who have not done track days get out there, give it a go and try it. It's well worth every penny. Most external factors which exist in road riding are eliminated and you have some potential to push your limits and explore your boundaries, a wonderful feeling and something mentally enhancing!

I've just got some pictures of before after stripes as an indication. They used to be about 30-40mm (6 months ago) now they are down to 2-5mm. I still have room for a lot of improvement with my ZXR 250 and I am having fun learning things on it, just think good things take time :) so guys in the same boat as myself hopefully that's something you can take on board.

Happy riding and learning!

woooooah..WHAT a difference. Nice work mate. Yeah, the twist teach's you things you wouldn't necessarily(sp?) know or learn and brings things you take for granted to the fore. Good work getting out there and playing cos as you say the track is a safe environment with everything working for/with you.

i cant believe the size of those burger royals you had on there before ;)

Good work there mate.

Where those before shots of tyres with some k's on them? Or were they the new set just fitted?

Doesn't matter really, the after shots say it all.
I guess you have new found respect for the handling of the ZXR?

I like your comment on why we should have track days too.

Cheers mate, no those tyres has done more than 5000 k's :innocent: and embarrassingly enough I had done Coro loop and Track Day and lots of weekend rides prior but they just didn't go. But I've slowly worked on it :)

The ZXR is a minta and awesome little toy I love it and want to keep it for a while before I get my full and 600. RESPECT.

Nice mate, good work on gettin ya technique down. And if ya get ya riding real good on the 250 youll enjoy the 600 so much more when ya do upgrade.

I too started with a zxr250c and it was brillant and now the 600 is almost at the point of upgrade, but its such a fun bike i dont want to get rid of it.

I think ive used all the usable tyre, has been right to the edge just not often enough to get rid of all the shine. Cant wait for the track day. Bit of orange peel going on to.

Yeah mate have to agree with you, there's no better feeling at the moment than riding the 250 hard. Maybe some day I would be able to keep up with the 600's in Taupo instead of getting lapped lolz..hehe they just kill me on the back straights! Baaah lolz.

Mate Boomer would have easily been doing 250 plus I reckon, well guy on the K6 600 was, so the CBR 600 would be faster eh  haha.. Boomer what was your max speed on the back straight?

The fastest my bikes been is 264 on puke, the back straight at Taupo i only get into the high 240's. That sweeper i was only doing 100 tops.. probably between 80-100 as i was going in, not coming out when i fell over. And the boy on the gixxer was passing me like i was stood still... in fact most people were that day :bye: Even Dover would have passed me on Friday ;)
