First ever lesson!!!

Whaahooooo just had my first lesson.
Was on a little Suzuki 150. As I am only 5'1 it was a little big but I could just put both feet on the ground.
Got off to a good start. Was able to start it up, go through the seqence of clutch in, brake on, start etc. Only problem was BLOODY first gear. no mater what I did it just wouldn't happen.

Well eventually my friend did it for me. After some take off and stopping practice he jumped on the back and we took off up the road. Now keeping in mind, I have only been on the back (once on the Taupo race track) so this was my first time in control and actually being able to SEE where I was going properly. What a rush, once I got over the nerves that is.

Well all up i recon I did really well. Was soon changing up and down gears with out having to think TOO much about which way they went. Was no good with indicators and had to be reminded about breaks a few times. lol

Can't wait till lesson number two!!!!!!!!!!

All I need now is a BIKE. Anyone have a few suggestions? Thinking about a little GN125 maybe. But open to suggestions. :scooter:

If you want a cheap naked bike to learn on, which in my humble (I've been riding over 3 years, but i still consider myself a newb) opinion, is the best idea.

If you drop it, then it's cheap to fix (that plastic shit is not cheap lol).

But not a GN125, please no lol, get a GN250 or a CB250, or the Yamaha Zeal.

Also don't forget to get some gear, helmet, gloves and jacket at least

Have the use of alot of gear. only thing I need now is good boots. Problem is knowing sizes etc.
As for the bike, need to save some money first. But I am definitely hooked so it is just a matter of when not if lol

Welcome to KB Jorja, Congrats on the lesson, before long your'll be itching to get a bike, it's similar to tattoos, once you get the bug you just can't stop. My partner Hitch just got her first bike, a Yamaha Virago 250cc, Good for you shorter girls. They also hold their value really well if you want to sell and upgrade, A nice basic cruiser for the beginner. All the Best.

no best first bike for you will be a sr185 yamaha.
The 150 you were on would be perfect with some er seat shaving
dont make any judgements untill you have propper riding boots

Great that the first lesson went well. Sounds like the bug has bitten.:scooter:
Good advice given by others & when you get some good boots sit on a range of bikes you like & find one that has a riding position that feels comfy to you.
As you practise riding you will find having 1 foot on the ground is enough so don't discount slightly tall bikes, you can lower a lot of bikes. By dropping the forks for a bit until you gain confidence or taking some out of the seat & some bikes have lowering kits.
