Hi All,
On behalf of all my fellow club members i would like to thank all riders who attended our rally. It was a success and we hope a good time was had by all. This was our first attempt at running it and we learnt a lot over the weekend. There will be a few changes made regarding lighting,PA system etc for next year. We have taken on board the suggestions already made to us over the weekend and if you have any comments or compliments please leave them here so we can address them. For those who did not get a badge they will be done and posted out to you so you will get them asap. Once again thank you for your support at this year's event and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!!! The dates for next year look to be the 29 Feb to 2 March 2008 but this will be confirmed in the next two weeks.
Ride hard and keep the wind in ya face....

This was our first attempt at running it and we learnt a lot over the weekend. There will be a few changes made regarding lighting,PA system etc for next year. We have taken on board the suggestions already made to us over the weekend and if you have any comments or compliments please leave them here so we can address them.We camped next to the animal stalls on the left as you come in the entrance, it made for a good bar in the rain of Friday night, and didn’t seem to be a problem. However the problem occurred the following morning, when this highly strung pommie chick got all pissy because we had set up there and she couldn’t easily get to the trailer that was there, and organise rubbish sorting. She got all stroppy and started making demands on people moving and wondering why the hell we were there. If she just calmed down a bit, it wouldn’t have a problem at all. Eventually some tape was found and an area marked off so the problem didn’t worsen as more people arrived.
I understand there will be areas where you don’t want people to camp, no problem with that, but we’re not mind readers. So as a suggestion for next year, how about clearly marking out areas where you don’t want people to camp before they start arriving … oh and get some chill pills for the bossy pommie chick.
One other issue was the price of coke - $3 for a 600ml bottle was a bit over the top. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume this price was set by the operator of the stall that was selling it, and not by the rally organisers. I expect to pay more than shop prices at an event like this, but that was too much. The beer prices were fine, consistant with other rallies – how about selling the coke over the bar yourselves next time, like other rallies do ... decent sized bottles at reasonable prices.
You’ve already mentioned the lighting issue for the stage.
Otherwise, well done, great rally. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and will be back again next year – where are you planning to have it, same site or elsewhere? The above issues are relatively minor in the overall scheme of things, and considering all the things you got right. So thanks for a great rally, and thanks for seeking feedback.

I have to agree here... All you needed to do is clearly mark where you don't want us to set up camp etc... and it would have been fine... but the some lady went off her rocker... As Far Queue says we ain't mind readers...
That and the price of a bottle of coke were my only gripe too... and like Far Queue I expected to be a little more expense but three bucks for a 600ml... These things get expensive after a while
Over all a great rally... Will be back next year... calendar is already marked for the mentioned dates :D

Hey great rally, realy enjoyed meself, and fully aggree with the statements above, in relation to improvements. Though not so much 98tls statement of "further", but if you could in some way get that main drag back to Chch a bit more upsy downsy and bendy wendy, that would be sweet. A ground churning earth quake would sort that.

The bar next year will sell soft drink and bottled water also along with tobacco products for those who run out!!! :)

Vulcanmad,I can only thank you & your team for picking up the reigns as it were, coz I thought this rally was lost to our riding calendar. It's the BEST, and the BIGGEST, and it's Great.
The only issue I heard any moans about was the lighting in front of the stage, problem being you couldn't find friends after dark! Subdued lighting would be great.
"The Brothers Grimm" Band are the Best on the Rally circuit, Is there any better????
I pre payed this year and will continue to do so.

Mate... my problem is beer now the 3 choices you had were shit... how about a real beer in a green bottle any one will do, that other shit is for the tast budless sugar drinkers.
I went into the bar tent once, were as if a green bottled beer was sold I would have camped in ther, instead I drank lemonade... think I'll bring my own next time ;)
Other wise... I liked it bit cramed in but thats what the Hare is aye, a big bugger of a rally, great effort to your team.

Its that grumpy Ginga again! Now to be fair, I was a bar runner for Mr S & elena and my mouth dropped open when a can of beer was cheaper than coke!! At $2.00 per can I don't think the organisers were rippin anyone off, I mean it's still alcohol!

Yup, I had a new one on order but being of Scottish descent thought I'd get one last ride on it. 'sides it hadn't arrived yet.
Was quite a struggle keeping it upright, particularly as it happened at 90+ km/h in a series of 75km/h bends. Where that biker was killed a couple of weeks ago. Imagine what was going through my mind as I drifted across to the other side of the road. Thank God there was nothing coming the other way.
All fixed and back on the road again.

nothing wrong with the price... its the flavours, sickly crap... I'd have used the bar if they sold either Stinie, Hinie, Grolsch, Stella...

Just had a bit of a count up and have about 12 badges for MH rallies, so I guess you could say i enjoy them! ;)
I have to say, I still love the original site, but this is a VAST improvement on the last site...I just never got to like being in that hugely exposed paddock in the middle of nowhere, the nor'westers were horrendous.
I like the site now, nice being close to town just incase emergency supplies are required... band was excellent (as per the norm!)... food was good, esp. the pork sammies (tell them a HUGE thumbs up on that one)... flushing toilets (oh damn were they gooooood!)
But I was saddened to miss out on my mug :(
Being away up north I missed the prepay deadline and then read the fine print about mugs only to prepay :crybaby: oh well I guess I've got plenty anyway.
I'll be back! :Punk:

They vary from $2.70-$3 in the normal shops in town here. I think $3 for one onsite at an event is pretty reasonable really.

Now we are moving to the humble old 'Sausie' seems to me that the SI crew of KBr's are starting to sound like some of the 'other Islands' inhabitants!!! I mean personally I had an issue with the ply of paper provided in the 'portapotties' I mean after guzzling aforementioned lolliewater and stuffing my gut with as many free bangers as i can!!! surely the rally organisers must consider the possibility that it will be exiting my person fairly quickly the next day, and that suuureeeely the standard of available 'exit hole' wiping material must be of top quality!!!! God forbid i have a finger through wiping material moment!!Which could be quickly dealt with by wiping hands on lovely scented wipes free of course at the wipes table beside the free Coffee/Tea and Banger table!!! It is just not acceptable that us "The becoming a bit anal Rallygoer's" are subjected to these types of inconveniences!!!! think i made my point but sort of got side tracked and whole post sort of took off on another tangent .................. eeeeeeeerrrrrrr ummmm *cough* ummm yer ok right

OK and it being an organisation that is running more than likely on some thread of business principles it will be wanting to make $$$!! yes i agree on your point there Mr D, maybe the local lions are running the bar and it is not really practical for them to be supplying out of the 'normal sphere' beers for everybodys tastes..... yes you have a very valid point in what you would prefer to drink and i will repeat that i do hope they seriously consider said request and you can stuff that extra pillow in your tankbag rather than a pack of steinlagers

Is this theguy ? Looks more like a Pisshead to me, this chappie was that pissed that some one had to ride the bike up the ramp. After the tyre popped, it ground away on the metal channel munting the edges of his nicely polished rims. But in his eye's he was the MAN.
P.S. He was on a lightning
Dont everr get near him....he is a complete idiot (his brother actually hit him in the head with a hammer)....the guy is dangerous on group rides....when in the main pack he puts his feet over the handlebars etc......everytime ive seen him hes pissed and being a complete knob, most that meet him just want to punch him
