Anybody here riding/ridden a Triumph 600 TT?
It looks like a good bike and I am wondering how it handles? Does anybody have any tales of how she handles if its a good day to day bike?

Take it from me, "They're great!"

It was one of the sweetest handling 600s I'd ridden untill I swung a leg over the K4 Gixxer.

If you can put up with the piss-poor power untill 6 grand and bad fuelling below 4, you'll love it.

If you're a perfectionist, you'll hate it, get the Daytona.

They're a really neautral handling bike that steers incredibly sweetly yet never gets upset. Brakes are typical Triumph, 2nd to none. Braided lines as standard as with all Triumphs.

They're also fucken cheap because every idiot out there, thinks they're shit.

I really like them. They are comfortable but sporty, and the handle superbly. The only gripe I would have with them is that they need the nuts revved off them to make any power, and round town you have to slip the clutch a bit away from the lights.

Bike mags bagged it, but it is better than say a GSX600F by a large margin.

Jim & WT have pretty much nailed it - the Fuel Injection round town is no good. Otherwise they go, handle & stop really well.

The only other thing is that I found the shape of the tank/position of footpeg ergonomics slightly off for my leg length - I'm 5'10" and my knees didn't fit in the tank indent, but stuck out more because they lined up perfectly with the upper bulge of the tank. :wacko:

I can't comment on day-to-day riding or long rides - my experience was just a test ride over the Kaimai's.

I was under the impression the motor was built by Kawasaki? Any truth in that?
Most (of those that I can find) reviews seem to say that they only sorted out bad fuel injeciton on the 2002 models.
I was wondering if some modifcations could be done to the injection system to fix the under 6000 rev problem?

Nah, she's all Triumph. Earlier model's should be able to have the later model tune downloaded no problems.

That would be the very first model line. The engines were designed with unofficial help from KHI.

The mech who is doing some work on this bike has made the same comment.
Namely how alike the kwaka and the triumph engines are. Even to the point where you can cross parts.

TT got itself a real shit reputation when it first came out here and the rep has stuck.FI was a total disaster but I think they sorted it in the end,also there was a major recall to sort the frames out as well.I think they all got sorted,I`ve seen a write up by an owner and he loves it and has had no probs at all.Dont know what your mech mate was talking about,there were rumours that Kawasaki were involved with Triumph at the start but I`ve recently heard from someone involved with the factory that this was B.S.,if that were the case why did the first ones have Yamaha parts fitted(forks and a few other bits and pieces)?Side on the motors looked like the GPZ Kwak mill but that`s about the size of it.TT600 motor was designed,built and developed in Britain by Triumph,I`d be interested to hear which Kawasaki engine parts are inter-changeable.
Like Sensai says,best thing to do is ride it and form your own opinion,I once bought an SLR650 Honda despite the trashing the press gave it,brilliant bike,did everything I wanted it to anyway.Trouble with the bike press on the whole is they dont see past the performance figures or how a bike goes on a test track,which is pretty much irrelavent to everyday use unless you want to chuck your licence away.

Got a mag here,reader says his bike is brilliant and has had no trouble at all with his over high mileage e.t.c.Then there`s the bike mechanic in the same mag that has this to say about the TT,""I only dealt with second-hand ones but I never came across a happy owner.They are horrible bikes to work on and horrible bikes to ride.The fuel-injection was all wrong,everything was all wrong.You couldn`t buy a worse machine".Like many others he then goes on to say that the later Daytona,also not designed by Kawasaki by the way,is a really nice bike.

I owned one of these, puchased it new back in 2000 from WGTN M/C I thought it was fantastic, brakes and handling were awesome,yes the fuel mapping issue was crap but Triumph to its credit kept sending out new ECU maps and I think most of the problem was the media hype/slagging surrounding the bike.My advice is to take one for a ride.yes they are cheap today but awesome value for what you get, I would have another one,no problems.

I bought a honda CBR600F. Riding position suited me and the cornering was supereb. Nice spread of tourque and while some claim to ride 200km/h+ to fetch the milk... its mostly academic to me.
Most importantly, my feet touched the ground when I stop and I like it!

Yes, one of the better colour schemes they produced. I reckon the black/yellow/teal is the worst (see attached)...and of course the red/blue is the bestest!! :msn-wink:
