AAAAh Feck, it had to happen sometime...
splitting allong the northern this morning... check mirrors... ah biker find spot to pull to let them though no problem... check mirrors another bike wait... check mirrors another bike wait, getting awefully close to the car infront slow up a bit, should be able to split again... check mirrors another bike yikes...
anyway finally clear... very close the the car in front but enough space to get past... as I'm moving back between them... car breaks feck... squeeze break gently "it's wet" next thing on the tarmac... it was that quick...
I'm ok got a brused hand and pride is a bit tender... :dodge:
Bike mmm broken gear shifter, indicator, broken gear leaver and scrated fairings...
need to go a shopping...

Bummer, wet weather really calls for caution - I binned my bike in it - same damage to my bike on a bigger scale!!
Good that you are ok.

Dude - sorry to hear that. Get in touch if you need anything.
Where are you? Anything need picking up?
edit - sounds like a case of not owning the road - your safety always comes ahead of the convenience of others...

Bummer! Glad you are ok though. I must have just missed it, was (in a cage) driving north to Albany just before seven. I commented to the bloke, that it was shiny and wetter looking on the city bound side.
So since our RRRS course, Chisanga, Chickadee and now you have binned. Hmmmm. I shall be treading VERY carefully from now on.....!

Awww bummer :(
Glad you're ok though.
Trouble is there has only been just enough drizzle to lift the diesel and crap off the road to floating on the surface. Unless we get real heavy rain after such a dry spell, things get real hairy quick.

mmm think the tricky thing will be the gear shifter...
bike is rideable, well got it to work ok, gear shifting is different with the side of my boot...
mmm yeah "not owning the road" especially in the wet...

Nah I would read too much into that...
mine was just a straight forward slip... damp road after a long dry spell, not owning the road... and before morning coffee...

So sounds to me like you got off lightly, heavy morning traffic an off and no tyre tracks on your back! Sore hand and a busted gear lever and indicator sounds good to me.
Good luck with the repairs and hope the hand is painless soon. Sounds like the road owned you!
Seriously though, if you were that close to the vehicle in front you maybe should have not been looking for a splitting opportunity.

Sorry to hear about the bin.
Not too much damage though - those tough Hyosungs!!
If you like we could have a wounded pride/body dinner at our place, Thursday night before a couple of drinks at the pub. Txt me if you need a lift.
Mac you are naturally invited.

did you get the other peice of the gear shifter???? maybe weld it together,
as a temp fix until you get another one from the recker or brand new, whatever you can find.

nope looked for it... couldn't see it on the road... but MDU gave me a brilliant idea which has already been put into place thanks... Drill hole though end of gear shifter and add nuts and bolt to secure...

Therein lies you problem! Geeeez man what do they teach you in those courses eh?
As Mack mentioned you've basically got away with it very lightly but hell I sympathise!
"Owning the road"...excellent phrase and never realised that I do it.

Sorry to hear about the bin, least you are okay and bikes can be repaired (or replaced! :dodge: ) Sounds like you got some learning experience out of it, and yeah, when I looked out the window to see that slow drizzle ... and had to rush to school, I decided to take the cage and will ride my bike laters! (Ooh..I hear the boos and hisses now! :o ) At least my pride and joy isn't being exposed to the elements is all!
Have fun shopping for new bling! Howsabout installing some LEDs and a LCD and an oven whiles you at it! :innocent:

Sorry to hear that tide. The only time I've ever ridden with you was in the rain and I admired how cautious you were about the slippery bits.
The drizzle today has been really bad after weeks of dry weather. I'm still hoping for a nice heavy downpour to wash all the gunk away before I have to go out on the road.

I agree. Very slippery coming into work this morning. A lot of diesel and paintwork in the middle of the lane made riding through traffic very dicy.

Sorry to hear you binned too mate, welcome to the Ouch Club, a bit like Fight Club but it's not really a secret.
Hope you're back out on the road again soon, once I've got a bulb in my indicator that works I'll be out again too. Just injured pride like yourself, my gear & bike did well not to burst into many bits.
Chin up dude, we learn from these things and it makes us a little safer (when we live to ride another day).
Take care

well as much people will say oh you could have done this to avoid it ... yes you could have hung back abit but in any situation just a chain of small things lead to someone on the deck and just a fact of having 2 wheels ... if you didn't want to fall over buy a car ... i know when its raining i don't filter and ride half as fast just because i've come off 3 times in the rain with those gn tyres and the gt is better but still not confident and probably won't ever be

Sorry to hear about your bin man...
But unfortunatly i'm gonna have to say it... Take your mirrors off or stop using them. If you want to see whats behind you then pull back into the lane, if there is a splitter behind ya and they are faster they will pass then.
Oh and no mirrors lets ya split faster:shutup:

Yeah riding home last night was interesting... every bump, slight movement I was going oh sh't don't drop it... but this morning was a lot better... split as normal just slower, but not as nervous as last night.

gonna have to agree there. EYES IN FRONT!
check mirrors once every so often if your worried about a faster person behind you, But don't check constantly.
if somone happens to be there. pull in and let them passed.

when im splitting i move my mirrors further outwards so i can see if i have room behind me to jump into the line of traffic either side.
althouth I did think of you Tide this morning when I just about go squashed between a bus full of school girls and a rather large truck with lots of 'pointy bit' sticking out everywhere... *both mirrors touched* was a minty moment.

Was that because you were checking out the school girls?
