Crush Washers

I was wondering if anyone knew of a place in Auckland that stocks a decent range of crush washers suitable for sump plugs?

I've tried Supercheap/Repco and they both have a shit range, namely like 5 different sizes of copper washers none even close to being suitable.

I have called bike stores and Mt Eden dealing in Aprilia said they can order them in but he is going to check the price - he anticipates it being $10 a fucken washer.

I need crush washers to suit a 19mm sump plug on the RS.

Cheers for any advice on where to source these.

I have used the GM Holden ones. Find your local Holden dealer and ask the spare parts guys. $2.00 for a part really worth five cents...

I went through the whole procedure of Repco/Supercheap as well... Bloody hopeless!

The Bolt Shop, on Archers Road? If they don't have them, they may know where to gettum.
I've bought a few things there, like replacement peg feelers, sprocket nuts, that sort of thing. They're usually quite different to the OEM ones, but do the job and cost a fraction of the price.

Oh - and they're usually in stock, unlike the Honda spares.

You can buy a Champion assortment of sump washers,they cost about $150.Or go down to your local garage who have a box of assorted sump washers and see what they have that will fit.

Any brake specialist will have copper washers for Africa, if that helps.

But you will only have yourself to blame if it leaks - it's inexcusable not to have someone else to blame when things go wrong.You are better to buy the incorrect part from someone else and let them take the rap.

I've always used two copper washers, drop of oil (tiny tiny) between them seems to go a treat. Don't do them too tight. Mine have never leaked. Always done it like this on rally cars, my street cars, old thrash cars/4wd's and some bikes and no worries. The "assorted" packs are cheaper but then you have 9 out of 10 left that don't fit anything. Theres a gasket place just near pick a part in Te Atatu you could call? They might stamp you out something fancy at an ok price.

Don't bother with Super Cheap unless you want something that's just that. Go to the good engineering shops like Wairau Engineering Supplies on the North Shore (or call them) and if they haven't got what you want, they'll tell you where to get it. S/C are morons personified.

I got some from supercheap down here (having said that it is an old style car parts store, not the useless Briscoes of carparts that the aussie chain supercheap is). in fact looking at my eftpos receipt its from "Gales Supercheap Auto Spares". I measured the shank diameter of the bolt and bought five of them for about three bucks.

Peugeots (and probably Citroens too) use copper crush washers for their sump plugs, you could try one of the dealers for them.
