So excited!

I found out today that the number plate I used to have on my car (which we no longer have) can be made into a bike plate :woohoo:

So, in a wee while if you see a ginny with the plate SAWCY...that's me!

:D

That's cool! Unfortunately one is restricted to five digits on a bike, so can't really put my username on one. Thought about "Te He" but the cost of personalised plates is bit of a put-off. How much is a bike plate, at the mo?

Was a gift, so it's not for me to second-guess the reason why it was chosen ;)

Don't know how much a bike plate is - cost me $21 to get the car one remade. I know the personalised plate I got for Dave a couple of years ago was a few hundred.

Kinda wish I'd got TAYLZ for him while it was available.

Was thinking about getting 'JCM' for me but since I already had one at home, another one seemed a bit excessive!

Ooh, MORPH would be good.....

Or FEE :D Ooh, FFF (fiona firefighter...!) - or FEEFI (but that's too close to Fifi which makes me think of poodles....so maybe not!)

LOL

And this is why Dave chooses the plates, not me!

Here she is!

Very proud of the effort - drilling holes into a number plate is bloody hard work! (especially when you can't find your own drill in the messy garage and you end up having to use the hubby's gutless cordless drill, LOL)

Nope! Was a nice moment when it fluttered away :D

A bike that suits the plate a bit more will be good. Will have to talk real nice to Dave when he gets home ;)

When I still had my L plate a mate kept joking that I should get [OSER] as my plate to go with the big yellow L

(it's still available at plates.co.nz if anyone really wants it)

Think so, when I got mine (2WHLS) it was about $400 so guess I have made a profit just based on current price........

I had a look a while back and was so gutted... some ridiculous price as I recall. Put me off getting one, but then "Toaster" didn't fit and you can't use the extra info on bike plates that you can on car plates.

Thats a great plate dude. Nice one! Bling given!

A standard 6 figure plate is "from" 399.00 and a premium 5 figure or less plate is "from" 699.00 (including bike plates). Which means for less figures, a smaller font and a smaller cheap nasty piece of pressed aluminium you pay nearly twice as much. Pack of rip off robbing cunts. They must be going down the tubes cause their market can only get smaller because the gummint would'nt let them produce 7 figure plates a few years back
Hope they go belly up robbing, bastards cornered the market and now rip everyone off

plates end up costing more than the vehicles they bolted to.

The $399 is if you want to keep your existing plate (which would have been issued when the vehicle was registered) but you want to add 'style' to it - have a silver fern, NZ, etc on the rest of the plate. Basically an overpriced way of appealing to the vanity of those who like their current plate but want it to look nicer!

The $498 price is for car plates only - what a rip-off! They must have realised that motorcyclists were a growing group of those wanting personalised plates so they make sure we pay a premium price for them. They have really gone up now, my first plate was $320, the second one $540 from memory (only two years ago) and now they want $699 - sorry, "from $699" for them.

And I note they now offer hire purchase for plates! That shows they are ridiculously overpriced now!

I must confess, I'd really have to want a plate badly to consider paying that much for one. When I sold the BMW CS I had that on the plate and someone balked at the $500 I was asking for it - which was cheaper than they could have bought it for at the time if it had been available. I ended up selling it with the bike.

Friend in South Island had an awesome plate ...... "O2BF3" (oh to be free) now thats an awesome plate, seen some good ones round, shame tho you cant have the full 6 spaces on a plate for a bike. Mayeb we should lobby the personalized plates people LMAO

Its a total rip off! Recently brought a European car and thought about the EURO plate to fill the larger gap. Close to $850, I say BLAHHHH

:Punk: I paid $649 for my plate in feb this year for my triumph could say its a rip off since you get 2 plates for a car for the same price :gob: and the fact that motorbike plates can not be coloured or a msg plate something to do with the LTSA and the police

But at the end of the day I got the plate I wanted and have been offered 2k for it already but its not for sale for any price so it comes down to how much is your plate worth to you :Punk:

Yep, bike plates are available in two shapes, standard one line or a "Tractor" "Two Line" Square version.. (Motorcycles and tractors have same plates) some bikes suit the two line style, but u have to ask for that specific type else they will manufacture as one line version. Re crazy pricing for new personalised plates, these are set byt the govt (ltsa) who also control whats allowed in text and styles, number sequences, lenghts etc.. Personalised Plates ( the sales organisation) and the Manufacturers (Licensys) only get small percentage of the fee, The govt gets the rest... it was originally set up as a Charity fund raising outfit, and it does go to charity but Im beggared if I know how much eventually ends up at the charity....
BTW, if you want your style changed from 1 to 2 line or vice-versa u can get em remade for around $21 but u must specify at time of order..
