View Full Version : Must have accessories
What are your "must have" accessories that you take on the bike. Maybe not on your day to day ride, but at least on a journey. I am pretty useless at taking anything, then I started to have a look at all the crap you can buy and started thinking about it.
I used to carry a leatherman, fuses, cableties, small torch and some cloth tape under my seat but my GSXR is pretty empty. I learnt the hard way 2 weeks ago that a Leatherman can be pretty usefull. I also did a ride with my brother who carries lens cleaner - fucken brilliant idea. What other buts and pieces are highly usefull? :whocares:

Shit you must have a lot of room under the seat! I did pick up a tank bag the other week but I dont intend on using it every ride. Earplugs and pressure guage are a couple I need to add to my list...

I'd recommend a cellphone ( with credit on ), a couple hundy or thereabouts reserve in the bank account ( good for emergencies ), and a small stash of tools ( beats borrowing or spending )............. then your covered for pretty much any situation. ( Oh and a couple of condoms incase your really screwed )

Lens cleaner. The amount of times i've had bug hits and smeared them only to find i'm now half-blind. Especially bad when you are riding at speeds too fast to lift ya visor lol. Then ya get bug-in-the-eye :slap:

 How do you carry your bananas without them getting squashed?
I usually take my lil' day pack, bungyed to my rear seat, with a warm sweater, scarf, bourbons and jandals & hat. Everything else...wallet, phone, smokes etc. fit in my jacket.

hmmm.....i always carry a bungy cord and bungy cargo net. tool kit, full gloves, and need to throw my goggles in soon. [this is always carried, in the top box]
long trips can include the following:
extra bungy cord, slightly shorter than the other. backpack, sneakers, spare socks. wallet, cellphone [and charger] hair brush. toiletries. tent and sleeping bag/foam mat. neck warmer [have to put that in the top box too.] spare sunnies. jersey, jeans and tshirt, plus underwear.
these accessories are mainly taken where ill be away from home for more than a few days. trips to palmy dont take half of it. only my invercargill trip has ever needed most of it, but the tent and stuff was left. paeroa, i left most of the clothes, but took the tent.

I found my old tank bag I used years ago the other day but all the rubbery bits on the straps have perrished so its not much good anymore. Must invest in another one so I can carry bananas. Nothing like a nice banana when you're out in the middle of nowhere...feeling a bit peckish.
