Riding at a gentle pace through a quiet kapiti coast town on a sunday afternoon, cruising along, enjoying the sunshine.... then the car in front of me brakes for a car turning in front of it, and.... i'm off in la-la land until it's too late, I slam on the brakes, lock the front, and it's BAM down on the road before i knew what was happening.
Wrecked my left footpeg mount, snapped a mirror off at the mount. Luckily no other damage to the bike. If i'd kept my head and not freaked out, i think i could have easily stopped in time if i had practiced my emergency braking better.
Suffered some minor bruising and a damn sore neck/shoulder. Draggin jeans kevlar did its job nicely, as the cloth ripped like it wasnt even there - my knee would be seriously injured if i was wearing normal pants i reckon.
Leather jacket almost unmarked and helmet's visor mount fucked. Helmet since replaced but i'm pissed off about the damage to the jeans. Sourceing new mirrors and footpeg this week so i should be back on the horse this weekend.
So that was an expensive lapse of concentration. It only takes a second and you're in the shit on a bike, so ride safe out there people.
