Urrr... it can!

The problem is the take off thing, where he probably has a bit of trouble running fast enough to take off. Also who would want to waste that much fuel in take off when it could be used for much more interesting things!

Wicked. I think I saw something similar on this recently. I'd love to do that sometime :)

Note the four small jet engines monunted under the wings? He was climbing!!!
As the specs state, "1000fpm of climb"!!!

That is Felix, the chap who used an unpowered wing to glide across the English channel.

He could fly as long as 6 minutes 30" and even with a little climb rate.

What it states there.....

where did you see the specs as last time I looked he was looking at uprading the engines to allow a more traditional flight rather than powered gliding which his first few were in a way.

At the end of the video that Shaun posted the video of (start of the thread), it stated some of the perfomance statistics, then went on to say what the "future" projects are...
One of those was "takeoff"!!! Impressive if he gat that happening. Perhaps standing on a skateboard?

His earlier attempts were unpowered glider, then onto 2 x jet engines before this evolution of the project.

I wonder where he is getting funding from...

Looked like Red Bull did the straight crossing unpowered one, and the fact the Special forces picked up on the design......

The Straight one was done by a kiwi, Chuck Berry. Sponsorship was Red Bull (and good on them for doing that!)

SF. I bet they are watching with interest, but without load carrying capability and stealth it probably will not go far. Remember that they looked into paragliders some time back?

Still downloading on dailup. Seems a bit fishy too me .Pilatus Porter awesome machine, but don't think it looks too Kosha climbing out at altitude with that thing strapped on, semed to get out too cleanly to be true. I know those machines have a slow stall speed but any wind speed with that thing strapped to you would have made exiting the aircraft difficult.

Cool video. It must be amazing flying with it.

Now that's why I love the human race, because of people like him. Fuck my life is tame compared to shit like that.

Yea it definitely can climb as stated earlier, he just cant put it in a large angle of attack as it stalls due to the low power output of those engines.

Also take off would most likely be off the back of a vehicle unless they somehow manage to make alot more power out of those engines as it would need a very long runway to get up to speed, and the angle of attack for take off would be another worry.

How much extra to put one of those on the bike you're building me? I'm sure it'll fly through a WOF!

Plus fuel consumption for the takeoff!

Wenier

Yea fuel consumption would be bad. The wing design might have to change to produce more lift, theyd have to think hard bout it.

If they increase the engine power high enough, he can launch as a VTOL
