im curious to know if anybody knows anything about an endorsment for a restricted licence holder being able to ride a bigger cc bike than a 250 because of various reasons, such as im 6'3 and i live on state highway 16, and people dont just cruse on those raods. im finding 250's to small and they just dont get up to speed fast enough when pulling out, with out ringing the shit out of 'em. i keep hearing about this endorsment and want to know more, so....tell me what you know.

im 6'3 also but when i had a L plate i found a few 250s that did the job, bandit 250, vtr250, gsx250:sick: they all did 140+ and took my lanky frame ok.

Yeah my driveway came out onto the 16, in the mornings i would be waiting ages to get out, sometimes resorting to hooning down the wrong side of the road (if clear) then cutting into the traffic when im upto speed.

I now have a 400...ill say no more... dont know who might be reading...

But seriously for the exception you have to have a pretty damn good excuse to get a bigger bike - im 6'2'' and really moving to a 400 i couldnt use the physical size thing as 400's are as pint sized as 250's

PM Gremlin, he went through the whole prosess. I did the CBTA coarse and got my full in only a month. Are they running that coarse again?

I just got exemption to ride a bigger cc bike on my restricted. I first wrote a letter explaining that my size is a problem on my 250 accompanied y the form. Then they wrote back a month later asking for photos as evidence of my size on different size bikes, a letter of recommendation from an authorised motorcycle dealer, and the make and model of the bike I was intending to ride. It would be a good idea to send all the stuff at once as it took another month or so for them to process the evidence. I applied 2 days after I got my restricted, and I only have one red light traffic infringement. I wrote down that I would probably get a CB400, FZR400 but ended up with an NC30 :D Its worth it, means I can get insurance when I can afford it after getting new discs and tyre! A Murphy's law thing I figure. Anyone got any discs lying round?

The funny thing is that they didn't specify any cc rating to which I would be restricted to but I'm still happy with the 400.

Yeh, you can generally ride any cc rating, but to be frank if you're too big for a 250 then you're too big for a 400.

A search of this site might also provide him with just about everything he needs to know...

me thinks I need to write an FAQ on this, then we can just point people to it...
