Advertised as the Hororata Bike Fest, but the badge said Hororata Hog Out. This was just the beginning. Going through the gates, 3 guys dealt with our admission, arm bands, details and payment… somehow the bro in lo thought the guy asked “you been here before”, of course he said “yeah”, in fact the guy asked “have you paid before” … ok so he scored free entry…

I was hating myself as I was having huge indecision issues about where to pitch the tent to avoid the winds. (I am good at, but hate indecision)
With me bro in law in tow, we hooked up with Red Turkey and his wife, sunk a few jugs of beer, and chomped on what was to become a whole cow worth of pies.
(After the pink tent thing where everyone either tripped over or took the piss out of Red Turkey's tent, he bought a new one for this one.... but cover'd his bike :shit: )
The day was fine and warm, but as said breezy.
The urinal in the pub was a place where the disorganization was spoken about, and the strange rules about where and what you can drink here there and everywhere. The guy barefoot that had been drinking piss, and was now standing in someone else’s piss in the men’s... That was kinda wrong.

I think not as bigger crowd as at the old site down the road. But not to bad, plenty of ale’s, banter, band noise and jelly.:Punk:
The wrestling was good, but none of the moves I have seen on the WWE!!!
Once that was all done, it was funny seeing the odd person come a cropper on the spilt jelly until a cordon was put in place.

More drinks and roaming the site for a look-see, talking to the odd face and such, seemed like a few people come in for the day for a drink in the pub…
Good to meet ya trump-lady and have a natter!
The band played and after dark, I think I remember some drizzle fallen, the wet t, (bugger missed the wet jock:zzzz: ) and later the exotic dancers… looked like they were from New Zealand to me???? Is that exotic???
More piss left me trying to dance… (I thought it best not to look)
Back at the tent about 2ish I was in for a power nap, and go again… well me power napped right through till the morn!!! Could not find coffee in the morning… apparently I was told there was someone at the pub boiling a jug for people as they wanted… something about not getting it together with the water boiling thingy.:nono:

Ok so it was not the best’est rally, but it wasn’t bad either… a good time was had.

yeah it was a bit of chaos at the gate - we almost got in for free. filled out the form and got told to move forward - sat there for a while with my girlfried on the back waving the money around. was almost about to give up when one of the crew finally come up and asked if we had paid yet.....

was the first rally i had been to where you couldnt drink your own alcohol (unless you stayed over the bridge by the bikes) but i guess that what happens when you have a pub running the rally insead of a club

weather was a bit strange hot as on saturday then woke up to rain in the morning. heard it pissed down on the friday as well

I'm not saying that you are wrong and you could be 100% right.

But I was told they changed the name to get more bikes there.

As because it was called a HOG Rally, most non HD riders thought that they could not attend as it was a Hog only Rally.
Could of been just spin, but that was what I was told by someone that was one of the organisers at the time of the name change.

If you don't attend these rallys they tend to dissapear and you guys will be in the North Island state of 'Nothing Much' to go to.
And perhaps an underwater housing for the camera- I know you can get closer to the action :nono:

Hororata Hog Out: I might have a pink tent (new one now green/grey) and cover my bike up to keep my sheep skin seat cover dry which turned out to be a good idea as it pissed down at 6am.This was my second rally, was very disappointed with the organisation, especially with regard to food that was available. Managment at the Pub were very GREEDY holding the monopoly on booze and food!!!! The jelley wrestling was good, but when they came on for the fourth and fifth time, it got a bit boring, could have been more variety with entertainment. The ten foot tall bullet proof SECURITY not allowing people over the bridge with drinks. What was with that?? The Publican's son in the morning boiling a jug to provide ????? people with much needed tea and coffee, what a f---in joke. Had a good time though catching up with people. Hope the next get together is better organised.

that sucked big time about the food and alcohol. its more like a money making rally for the pub now. i wasnt going to bother staying with regard to the alcohol policy but then it was easy enough to sneak it in. i want fast food at a rally - not have to wait half an hour after i order something. where were the hotdog caravans etc (the food was damn nice tho). and also i cant complain about the free sausage sizzle - except for the worst hiccups i ever had

i didnt have a problem with security - just doing there job

Lets just say we were glad to get rid of the then proprietors of our local pub here and they went on to take over the tenancy Hororata pub and were at the helm during last years event.
When they went it was "god help Hororata"

Hey dudes and dudess's, I am currently working on the staurday morning of this rally, but am going to try and swop it with someone, as never been to it. Is it a good rally, the only thing I hear about it, is from my male mates saying, oooo the strippers are really good. This is not the kind of thing a biker chick wants to ehar, but guess, I can get a drink by the bar in peace and quiet and see what lovely guys are around, that dont feel the need to watch strippers..............................I always reckon the chick strippers are too lude, as the go way to far, but bout time they started getting something for us chicks at the rallies.

At the Nelson one, there were 2 representatives who were going to Mr. Universe in Spain and they both came on and did their routine, and it was well horney......... So rally organisers if you are listenting, sort us chicks out with eye candy, its about time......

Anyway, will confirm I can go when I have bribed someone.

Coi for now.

There's more up there than a lot realise  some good loops can be done :niceone:

the zig zag springs to mind just south of the rakaia gorge....is it still part shingle?

l.coleridge to l.lyndon can be fun too! there are some primo rides off the beaten track...shame that the fords dont have them humps anymore

 The Zig Zag, that starts about 30m past the 2nd bridge heading north and brings you back to tar seal just by Terrace Downs, she's a mean corrugated piece of shingle.

Lake Lyndon Rd is OK if it's been freshly graded but it gets corrugated too. The Rd that goes up past lake Selfe to the harper river settlement & Glenthorne Station isn't too bad.

The 1st right heading south from the gorge heads up to Glenariffe station then turns into a farm rd that loops around to Lake Heron station and comes back to the road at Hakaterre close to the Ashburton lakes and Erewhon Station cross the Rangitata headwaters by the Havelock hunting blocks down through Mesopotamia Station to Peel forest and Geraldine.

We will not be there even for a day trip as we are driving down south to Oamaru with the dogs for their 1st birthday with their up to ten brother's and sister's.

So about twenty plus or minus two Wolf Hounds, will be running around the farm and the owners will be drinking to their health with Kilkenny's (breeders kennel name) beer and Bourbon.

Well the rally is all done and dusted. Another year, and it was better than the last, the old site down the road, was still way better. But anyways it was done.
The music was good from what I remember, the company similer, the exotic girls were there,<a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2627773200100338616lPdVur"><img src="http://thumb16.webshots.net/t/52/652/7/73/20/2627773200100338616lPdVur_th.jpg" alt="Exotix"></a> but nothing like last year. No jelly and no guards on the bridge giving the heave ho!
The wind was not there, but the sun was!!! and that made it great. The bro in law, musta got hit by the drink, the sun and went zonko outo! And that bought out the surfers on his back, sum humping, and dragging back to the confines of tent bliss to sleep the rally away.

There was surfing in the late afternoon, <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2156944500100338616Efrxto"><img src="http://inlinethumb61.webshots.com/6268/2156944500100338616S200x200Q85.jpg" alt="Surfin, where da waves"></a>

it was just my luck to miss out on entering the hardluck competition if there was one

started off ok after a hard night at work- took the mv out early to set up the tent then go for a decent ride. got back to the pub to be informed that my back tyre was half flat. headed off home only to find that none of the petrol stations air pumps had the right angle to fit my valve. got home ok tho

waited for my partner to finish work - was a busy day for her so she was a bit late. changed bikes and headed off. right at the end of the long straight on the way to mcleans island i find i have no clutch ..... manage to stop ok after the sharp bend

no tension but the cable is ok. didnt have the right allen key to get at the adjuster but we managed to tape up the cable end out of its joint to get enough tension. get to the turn off to hororata and didnt see the cop car behind the bikes heading back towards chch - watched in the mirrors as he pulled a u turn. $230 later head off again

rally was good but got a bit too drunk

woke up and there was only one other tent left. was before twelve i think. i have never figured out why everone leaves rallies so early.....

just before heading back to the main highway my temporary clutch fix gives out and i have to practice my clutchless stop again. gave up rang the AA and waited about an hour for the truck to arrive. got home safe and sound

apart from that had a great night

I dunno, I guy won and then forfeited his prize to another guy as apparently the other guys bike broke down and he managed to get to a petrol station and fix it... only to accidentally fill it up with diesel.

They didn't use the stage for the wtshirt because of the electrical equipment. There was no free space on the stage that didn't have something rather electrically lethal.

Going by the angle of the stripper photo, and recognizing the back of the guys head as one of the guys I was with, you must have been standing next to us lol.

Is there a video of the bike show... in particular the bit where I win? :P

Can't believe they made the bike show go twice! We would have won at least two best bikes in show except they couldn't be farked bringing their bikes back the 2nd time and I bribed one of the guys to go get mine for me lol.

Edit-

Watched the samples.. yeap can see three of our bikes in the show and us sitting on the ground. And whooops, look like Sharmaine nearly fell off her nice shiny purple Harley lol.

All the bikes in the show are pretty well covered in the DVD plus quite a few extras from out the front and in the camp area.

I didn't mind the second attempt. I had lots more bikes to look at...lol.
The old Duke was nice.

Na, she held it well, but I can't say the same for the poor guy following her.
I got his legs and arms flying across the screen and the aftermath. Not suprising though, uphill grass can be pretty slippery when you've got lots of low end grunt. Not a bad spill but, yeah, still a spill where ya least want one, in front of a camera!

Sorry to bring up an old thread BUT, for those who did not recieve their badges please contact me as I am a point of contact to obtain them! There was a mix up on how they were being distributed and they ARE NOT being mailed out to you.

I should have them available by Saturday so if you DID NOT get one, and went to the rally (RALLY!... not sat in the pub and didn't go in!) send me a PM ASAP and I will make sure there is one with your name on it!

Should be available for pickup in the weekend onwards.

Please spread the word to others who went to the rally.
