Hey All @ KB

Im new to these threads as im just taking up motorbikes. I have ridden dirtbikes etc before for years anyway im looking at getting my learners and restricted licences on a kawasaki zxr250 or a honda cbr250r.

I will be commuting aprox 20km round trip once a day and be going on a longish ride on my day off on the weekend say to whangamatta or something from here the mount.

I would like to no what years etc to consider of these bikes and if i am actually on the right track here. Me being youngish also needs a little bit of an adrenilin rush (speed of corse) and ive herd the cbr redlines much higher than the zxr.

Anyway would be very pleased to here your thoughts on these bikes and any experices etc you have had.

Cheers Guys

CBRs are tanks and keep goin. The ZXR is slightly larger, so if you're tall or don't like being cramped up, then that'd be the better.
Best bet, take both for a ride and see yourself

cbr and zxr are same weight, same hp, same redline. Zxr is longer so cbr is ment to handle slightly better while the zxr is slightly more stable. take 'em for a cane and see which one you like

there is other factors to consider. Like if you buy a honda you have to act gay to keep the image up...............

Mate I owned both a CBR250RR and a ZXR250C. Im only 5"11, 75ks and the ZXR was a way nicer bike to ride/thrash. If youve got a bit of mechanical no-how in ya and ya want a little fast thrasher then dont forget the dirty 2smokers.

Both are pretty revy little buggers, if you're starting out and want something a little racier than a GN (excellent wee first bike) but a little less frantic than the CBR / ZXR, then have a look at the GPX250r. These have been re-released and being a twin will have a smoother power delivery. Easier commuting and still alot of fun. Racing the ZXR / CBR boys will also develop your riding skills to a greater extent.

right. this is all in my humble experience take wht you want from it:

now are you looking at a cbr r (as in mc19)?
or a cbr rr (mc22)?
most easily defined by the mc22 twin brake discs compared to mc19 single discs.
mc19s are slower than mc22s, and not as gud (braking etc)

so if your choosing between kawasaki and honda its between
cbr rr (mc22) or zxr-c or zxr-a

cbr rr's are better than zxr's as the are argueably faster and more mechanically sound, although they are more expensive.

zxrs are cooler and better looking, but tend to need the carbs tickled once or twice a year.
zxrs are also cheaper, but you will need to get the carbs done other wise you will be running lean/rich and having to push start your bike in town

cbrs r tanks, you can trash em and theyl just keep going and going. zxr u thrash em and itl be in at the shop sooner than later. but they r cooler.

oh yeah another point for going CBR, there are a lot more tyre choices for a 17" rim than the ZXR 18" rim.

Ride them both. Also check out the local dealer for servicing parts etc . Then go with your gut on this one, they will both do what you want them to do.
