How stupid is that?? Better watch out, the HP cars will be getting pink stickered aswell soon, the spoilers on them must be pretty dangerous :killingme

hahaha, i've talked to fraser a couple of times, he's a good bloke, for a cage driver, he wouldn't of said too much to set the cop off like that, tis a nice ride for a cage as well.
Shit i ain't never come across a cop like that almost sounds to far fetched to be true, what a joke, i hope fraser takes the matter to a higher place for sure.
Looks like they'll do anything to make quota now, and waiting for him to put his seat belt on, shit, desparate or what, or anal.

It has to be a troll - by the cop that pulled the skyline up!!!
Funny how some guys are lifes "victims" and guys like me with wilder creations, ( the scoop on my truck is the size of a '84 civic) drive from one end of the country to the other and never get pulled up (well not 'never', I was pulled over for a licence check 7 years ago on my bike)

I, for one, hope it catches on. Some of those meccano set spoilers that extend 4 inches past the cabin are just waiting to decapitate a pedestrian. Good job!

Those wings are like having I'M A WANKER painted in big letters all over the car, however the cop didn't need to take it as a competion and try to be a bigger wanker, if of course its all true. If it is true the guy needs to take some stress leave.

Those wings are like having I'M A WANKER painted in big letters all over the car...I tend to agree, Spud. They don't actually add anything to the performance, as they don't provide any real aerodynamic downforce until over 120k at the least.
Those wings are called "God Handles" in our household.:D

I tend to agree, but I see this car round quite a lot and the flipper :) ain't too bad on it. The car is pretty new and everything about it looks fairly stock (for a R34).
As for 'having a pedestrians hand off' that's bull. Why not say all cars should be stickered cos you can run someone over? Things are just getting stupid. rant over now. :whocares:
Better be careful, else pack racks will be next.

What's the problem. If the guy wants to put spoilers, wings flippers, whatever that's his choice. He thinks it looks good, again his choice. Bloody hell I've seen plenty of bikes with wanker written all over them. The cop was a tosser. To think that these guys are licensed to kill gives me the shits to put it mildly.

did you read the whole thing and see the attached pictures that show the flipper well inside the cars width!
And what about those large trailers they put diggers and the like on the ramps at the back of those would pose far greater hazard to anything that got in its way

Each to their own, young guys always like the 'wank' value of biggest wing/loudest stereo/noisiest exhaust etc, we've all been there!!
Out of the items I mentioned the wing-thing is the least offensive and the biggest danger is the blind spot they create.
A sad incident for the dude involved but at the end of the day it cost him nothing but some time, he should just shrug his shoulders and not get too hung-up jousting at windmills. :calm:

The guy ticketed is not some "boy racer wanker", he is a true Skyline enthusiast, having bought the GTR V-spec II as soon as it was available and throwing another 80g above the 124000 purchase price.
Very similar to alot of people here, just with a car, not a bike.
I've never seen him driving around town on a Friday night making a dick of himself or anything like that.
Cop in this instance, had a very bad case of small pecker syndrome.

Now imagine if he was into bikes, the goodies you could buy with that kinda money

What a bloody crock of freaking shit...
If he wants dangerous, take a look at the number of wankers that drive massive 4x4's in our cities. I'd rather get hit by that Skyline than a tank with a 'nudge' bar. (WTF are they going to Nudge? King Kong??)
I subscribe to a neato septic magazine that has just run an interesting article on the rise in motorcycle fatalities coinciding with the rise of the SUV. They are so high in front you are much more likely to die if hit by one as opposed to a car.
Take a pedestrians hand off... HA!

I would love a CF hugger or guard, but then at least it's functional, whereas given that an aerofoil is for creating downforce at high speeds, it has no purpose apart from wank value on a car that will probably never (legally) reach a speed where it provides any benefit. Unless he uses it as a track tool.
However, having said that, he has every right to decorate his car as he sees fit (provided it's not a dnagerous fitting), and in this case, the cop was just being a dick, and probably one motivated by jealousy or other feelings not appropriate to proper performance of his duty. Would he have pulled up a Porsche with a factory whale-tail (AKA "picnic table")?

Ermm... I can however tell u from experience that he will drive above the speed limit, (on private roads of course). Have known him on the Skyline club for a good while, and yes the spoiler does make a BIG difference on how they handle. I would've considered it a safety device.
However, showing off carbon fiber like that does have a big "WANK" factor. At lease paint the damm thing.

Spend that much on a car you may as well just replace the thing every few years when the looks start to fade

Yip, the point of having carbon fibre is so that everyone can see it. The weight benefits are very neglidgble (sp??). Why paint it so that then no one knows its carbon fibre.
Motu
19th August 2004, 13:19
Most of the carbon fibre I have seen is just plastic with the carbon fibre look - if that was really a carbon fibre flipper it would of been fitted with quick detach mounts so he could take it off easily to show his mates how light it was. That cop was a total dork,he should of been asking the guy to sign his autograph book.

I wish that cop was around yesterday.. was following a mazda along the beachfront with a wing held on by 2 bolts in the middle...had to back right off in case it fell off his car. could see the ends flexing over bumps (up and down about 3ins) he even left the holes from what i presume was his old spoiler. pretty much had no springs either from the way it cornered. only one brake light on the back worked. none on the spoiler or rear window. he'd painted the whole back of the car himself too (bright yellow)... no shine anywhere and over-spray all over the huge exhaust.

Na, its just my esp working, I foresee a new ACC overuse syndrome in 15 - 30 years time. People will be afflicted with spinal compression, pulverisation of the internal organs, chronic deafness and bleeding ears will be the norm for this particular generation.

And whats this shit with sitting as low as possible while driving? Must be impossible to see the road surface closer than 100 metres on front.
Apart from Mexicans whe the hell else sits that low? Those without much money just set the seat back on full recline position and hang onto the steering wheel to hold themselves up enough to see over the dash!
Must be murder on their back after 1/2 an hour of driving - and imagine the control they (don't) have.
One local has mag wheel centres blu-taked to the dash so when viewed coming towards you it look like he has chrome accessory instrument pods :puke: :killingme

You've got to look like you are in control....
None of this looking like a granny peering over the bonnet. Therefore if you want race seats, you've gotta get used to not being able to see much.
Of course, they're all good drivers, so dont need all that visibility anyway.
