18th March 2007 - changed to this date to suit us hard core Southers!*
So, you going?
I'm going.
See the Meetings and Events area, I'm too cool to post a link.
Zeocen - be there, or I will clean your bike.
Chisanga - be there, or I will scuff your leathers.
Lucy - be there or I will tip your bike over while you change.
Mav - be there, or I will hide your shades thus reducing your biker cred.
Gijoe1313 - be there, or I will not remove the caveat on Daisy preventing any ricer bling.
McChickaJim - Half of you be there, or I will ... well, it won't be pleasant.
Everyone else - be there, or Zeocen will sing.
*Southers = South of the Bridge...

My Bonny is over the ocean, my Bonny is over the sea,
my Bonny is over the ocean, o bring back my Bonny to me!
Bring back, bring back, o bring back my Bonny to me, to me;
bring back, bring back, o bring back my Bonny to me!
And now ... for something completely different ...
Pootle over the bridge to goodness knows where? Like everything else in my life, I cannot make a commitment without it blowing back up in my face! ...
So... in reverse pyschology karmic terms ... "I won't be there!"

Oh, heck.
Got the carbs back from Motorcycle Surgery today. Send me some good vibes and hope that everything goes back on the bike alright and she works....
Booked Friday off work to scout the route.
Could someone wake Mav's weather Genie up? Ta.

I won't be able to make it :( a greater force (in the form of a female) has me surrendered on sunday, if it was saturday I could have come!
My bike could do with more than a clean.. try some plastic welding and a new windshield!
And also, my singing is flawless thank you very much!

What's a Dorklander? Damned if I can find a Dorkland on my map.
And ain't nuthin' wrong with us going there - means more riding time for us.
No pleasing some people.

I will seek this female, and berate her. I have sacrificed golf and beer, you SHALL attend.
And you don't need plastic welding, duct tape works better.
As for your singing, explain why all the windows in your house are Plexiglas then!

an hour + on an auckland motorway? hardly quality ride time.
if that's to go north then i'm not interested; must be their turn to come south

An hour + on a bike is an hour + on a bike. 'nuff said.
Didn't realise biking was a turns based game. Brings back fond memories of BRE/SRE...
Anyway, enjoy your day south of the bridge on Sunday. You'll be missed. Probably.

must be their turn to come south
Well, that's sort of the point.
This is a 250 slow/medium ride, aimed at the less experienced who want to gain a bit of road time without it being a baptism of fire. It's also for those on any size of bike who don't necessarily want to squid it up.
Maverick & McJim have been organising rides along these lines down south every fortnight for the last six months or so. I thought it was time to invite them north, especially as there's a group of north shore usual suspects who travel south for their rides regularly.

nope, an hour on a motorbike on the auckland motorway is an hour missed on some other far better piece of tarmac

sometimes it is and sometimes it's just about respect

I didn't realise there was ANY talk of a run to the 'tron.
And you do realise of course it's rare to get peak hour level traffic on the M1 on a Sunday. Unless it's b0rked by way of tourist related prang. Or some ministerial cavalcade. Or stuff.
End of the day, I'm going. Whether or not anyone tags along is none of my concern. (This of course is diplomacy speak for "I don't give a shit")
NOBODY got the BRE/SRE reference???
I also have no problem with tongue in cheek - provided the tongue and cheek are mine. Unless the tongue belongs to some hot chick. Then she can borrow the inside of my cheek.

I ride on the motorway from manurewa to westgate often in different traffic, I haven't had a frustrated time wishing I was somewhere else yet! Regardless of where I am, on a bike is on a bike and that's good enough for me!
I wish I could make this trip, would've been my first venture over the bridge.. I hope you guys do it again soon so I can go the next time!

:gob: You are joking me! I remember way back in the ol'days when a group of seriously deranged bikers still on their learners (and still are some of us!) Went and pootled around the twisties in the rain! :sweatdrop
Mad? Aye.
Had fun? For sure.
Would we do it again? Dunno!
Yes, if my hazy memory serves me right .. McJim in his leathers..Mav doing his "I'm sorry the weather genie was on holiday" spiel ... Donor, shitting bricks as he was totally new to this biking game on his hand grenade called Daisy ... and a deranged little ol'Hornet rider who was cackling in his helmet due to the lovely two stroke smell coming from Daisy ahead!
G'wan, y'know y'want to nana it in the rain! :msn-wink:

Aye them was character building days for sure - I've had a few soakings since then too being an every day motorcyclist - it stops being fun in the rain when you do it too often....more of a chore really.
Forecast ain't too bad for Friday and Saturday - rain should have spent itself by tomorrow afternoon until Sunday - ride safe and enjoy - I think Mave will bring his weather genie too...mibbe.

Ok, I'm back, and I'm glad I didnt miss this ride. Count me in. Although I am shaking my head in amazement at what I'm reading here. Someone from Manukau is complaining about an hour+ on the motorway, (is there a bike slower than the GN?????) Someone else is going to lay mines on the bridge, but the meeting point is out the end of the Northwestern. Zeocen is under the thumb, and Donor is giving up golf AND beer.
I can't turn my back for a minute.....(let alone a week, a week when I rode my trusty GN down to the Central Plateau in summer and returned in winter)
At least GIJoe is still normal.

I'm bailing out.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, I am unable to commit to the ride as I have to go and play golf today.
SWMBO has decreed that this is law, and as such (we have a bloody uncomfortable couch) I will be housebound tomorrow instead.
PM me for her email address if you wish to send appeals on my behalf!
Otherwise, have a good ride tomorrow guys and gals, stay safe and do some k's for me!

Despite all my efforts, the bike will not be running until at least next week.
It would be an understatement to say I am pissed off at the moment.
PM's will be sent to all those who PM'd me for details.
My apologies to everyone.
I'd suggest those who want to ride tomorrow meet up and organise their own route, but I will be unable to make it.
