I have just brought a 2005 1200 banddit. Back on a bike after number of years. Can anyone give me any info to get the best out of the beast. Anything I need to know about it.

As a start, give it a pipe,K & N filter and jetting. That will give you another 15 - 20 hp. Gaz.
ps. PM me if you want more details.

I wouldnt worry too much about making the beast go any quicker until you have stacked away a few thousand Kms on it, I am positive that in standard trim it will be quite fast enough.

What I would consider is the handling side of things. A wise head once said to me if you sort the suspension out so you can carry another 20kph through the tight stuff then what difference will a few more ponies make.

Edit: Bandit guys what are the popular suspension upgrades - does the bike need any?

Thanks for the input. Yes I am more than happy with the power output at this point. I would be interested to hear any minor improvements I could make to improve handling, althought seems not too bad at the moment. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Go see Shaun for a suspension setup, he will see you right.

Spend some time reading BanditAlleyBBS (http://banditalley.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/index.php), it's a great archive of all things Bandit related.

Apart from an aftermarket muffler, replacing the rear shock seems to be a common mod. As a cheaper alternative to an Ohlins unit, a number of the GSXR shocks fit reasonably, including the Hayabusa one. There's quite a few threads and FAQs on this on BanditAlleyBBS.

Good choice of bike :niceone:
