who here in wellington experainced the power cut? apparently johnsonville & Porirua did. Which was good cause I got to finish work early :) was crusing along the motor way behind a line of 3 cars which was only doing 80kms which was good for me as the roads were slippery & dark. Had 2 cars just about ram me from behind so though bugger this i'm speeding up. So past the 3 cars & traveled at an amazing 90km/h WOW :) didn't wana push the limit of 100km/h as I wasn't too confident riding at that speed in these conditions. Anyway saw about 2 fire engines attending some crashes along the way. Why is it that people don't drive to the conditions? I mean it had been pouring down with rain.

Anyway am curious as to how far the power cut went. was off from about 11:15pm - 1am

Anyone know why it was off? am guessing someone hit a pole or something??

Listen to the wellingtonians complaining about their 2 hour power cut...... They're common place for the rest of the country you know.

(p/t - just throwing it back down at ya's)

The power was off in Grenada Village/Newlands,the only way we knew, was the alarm clock did not go off this morning,so abit of a panic to get ready & then do battle with peak hour traffic, over an hour behind schedule
So what time did the power go off, according to the flashing alarm,it would have been about 2.00 in the morning??

Not sure that we had one - but if it was the middle of the night I'd probably be blissfully unaware!

Used to have them all the time in Auckland - sub-station failures, lightning strikes, cars hitting poles, etc. It is pretty 3rd world when you think about it..... (well, maybe not 3rd, but certainly not 1st)

It wasn't a lightning strike. Someone plugged in a hairdryer and took the whole village out just like that TV show, Men in Trees. Find the breaker and flick it back on.

Stokes Valley was out.
There was a big lightning flash, and then all when dark.

Woke up the baby too.
