not bad for a diesel though and not only can it make 250HP, it also makes over 250lb torque!
There is no production bike I know of that even comes close to that kind of power

that's only the std version
the 'performance' version more than doubles the power and torque
mere humans would barely be able to hold on
for me the 160lb torque and 100hp std version would be more than enough what with 2.5 litres per 100kph. That's a range of 720 kilometres per tank (18 litres)!

Nay III I thought Ft lbs and NMs are different eg My bike is 80+ ftlbs but 116 NMs
If I read the specs correctly, and it is very likely that I havent one model is putting out 100hp and 250nms??

Where does it say 250HP? All I can see is `70PS, 160Nm (aktuell). 100PS, 200 bis 250Nm (angestrebt)' which to my guess would say something like ~70HP at the rear wheel, but with 160Nm of torque.

it seems the specs are 'variable'; turbo/injection tweaks no doubt.
Hell, even the 80HP model with 165 ft/lb of torque would be a wild wild beast with the grunt of a Rocket 3 in a bike half the weight (ish)
I'm gonna bookmark this one and keep and eye out.
Imagine it if you will, a fire breathing monster powered by used cooking oil with the ability to tear down small buildings but still get 700 kilometres to a tank of fuel!

the english write up says 80hp and 165 ft/lb in stock form. torque = acceleration and with 205kg, that's bloody monstrous!
i've seen it before somewhere and it's been tweaked for more than 200Hp and 250 ft/lb
i wouldn't swear on a case of guinness though...............

nah, never saw that one but sure, as a hand built one off it's gotta cost loads.
If it ever goes into production though, it's just an ordinary motor surrounded by ordinaryish technology and should be viable in numbers at something like Ducati 1098 dollars

Thanks III, 120bhp and 250 foot pounds at 5500rpm with a bit of remapping and 5 speed box, 700 kms per tank as you say on cooking oil, I would like to have a go on that I guess....but i'd be a bit edgey. I guess I could always tow my boat with it....

indeed, injection and turbo mods and i believe the 250hp/250ft lb numbers i recall from an earlier write up are realistic
scary stuff and eco friendly to boot!

its called the "Neander" torque figures, 175Nm at 2600rpm. sounds more like a tractor! 3l/100km

If any governments are serious about cutting CO2 outputs this is the way to go. The answer is staring them all in the face. We don't need bus lanes we need more bikes like this and a seperate motorcycle only lane.

interesting. not quite as powerful as the other but still an interesting development in the world of motorcycling. at nearly 600lb it's more akin to a huge Yank bike than what i like to ride and yes indeed, it is aimed at the cruiser market.
i have been wondering lately what the oil crisis will eventually mean for motorcyclists. the move to alternative energy sources threatened to make bikes boring and gutless.
these few diesel projects are really interesting and signal eco fuel alternatives that don't have to be dull and gutless. I suppose there will be resistance from many riders to diesel power but I for one would leap at the chance if it were in my price range.

I read some time back about the US military desire for a motorcycle that was in line with their one fuel aspirations and a diesel dirt bike was the subject. It looked pretty good too albeit of modest performance. At the time, I thought that a Sports Tourer in diesel would be great but feared until this post that it would be pretty feeble by comparision. Looks like the future is all good....electric bike anyone :dodge:
