Any one use Ihug for home phone?

I've decided to use Ihug because it's taken 2 days and many communications both email and phone to find out from telecom some simple information (pretty sad for some one who owns shares in tc). Bling to the first person to show me where on the telecom website they list how much it'll cost me to make a national call on a basic home phone (no calling plan).

Does any one use Ihug for home phone? If so are there any problems or horror stories different to what you'd expect from Telecom?

I doubt it'd be in there anyway, it would make it too hard to change rates mid-year.

We changed to iHug for our home phone just recently. We already have i Hug broadband and it worked out better for us overall.

Have noticed no change in the standard of service and the changeover was seamless - even kept our phone number.

Getting the refund of overpaid line rental from Telecom is a mission tho. We're $22-some in credit with them and that will take about 2 months to be refunded to us because apparently it's a huge hassle to give refunds and I think they're hoping we'll go away and forget about it.....

We've found iHug to be pretty good the whole time we've been with them. We tried to change to Telstra a while back but that was such a mission we gave up.

Happier just not being with Telecom on principle.

I use Ihug for phone and internet, and have been for years now, after trying all sorts of ISPs, starting with Xtra.
I'm quite happy with their service. I doubt it's any cheaper, but I've no complaints.

I was with IHUG for satellite broadband. It stopped working so I went to dial-up, and sent them regular emails asking for my sat dish to be fixed.

After 6 weeks I gave up and cancelled the direct debit authority they held as I was being charged for broadband I wasn't getting as well as being charged a minute rate for dial up access. Even though I was in credit by 1 month they immediately froze my account, stopped all emails to me etc.

I'd suggest you look elsewhere, in my opinion IHUG are right up there with Telecom.

I have been with ihug for a few years, I would recomend them to anyone. Whenever my neighbour has complained about not being able to get on line (he with telecom) im still sufing away I have never had probs with connection. But as for the phone thing ..... well we were rung to see if we wanted to change to ihug phone we said yes. Its been a month now and I have sent an email asking what up?!!! But still no reply or change over so I guess we're staying with telecom. Good luck with your decision.

Have been with Ihug as one of their first corporate customers. A home, we switched to their phone system last year, have cheap Broadband, good strong connections, no degraded performance, no dropouts, no disconnections. we also get cheaper tolls and our total telephony costs have gone way down.

For Telecom prices go here - on a basic home phone there are 3 plans pick one. There is no such thing as no plan (the nearest you will get is the Anytime plan for national calling)

Sort of according to what Telecom told me. There is a "no plan" where you pay just the rental, then pay as you go. But if you chose this then you automatically get the $3weekend plan added. Ok, i'm bung in the head but buggered if i could work this out.....imagine if my olds or my grandma tried to do this. Or a woman.

Bling awarded. If you work for telecom then case in point, your answer is different to the other stuff i've been told..... Arrrrghhh

Just had a look at the Ihug website and was a bit shocked. Now it may be just me but im pretty sure IHug is owned by Vodafone?:confused:

Yes. Which sort of removes them from the small company category. And makes it a harder decision to support a global company. But if they answer questions, and provide a better service (subject to opinion) at cheaper rates then........
