Hi Jon. Could be interested. Seems like a silly question, but will this bike be in New Zealand at the time? I see your location is quite some distance from NZ. What year is it, what sort of price are you after... and am I right in guessing it to be the 750 and not the 800? Cheers!
Edit: Just followed your link and noted that it's a 1996 VFR750. Interested in what sort of ballpark price you might want for her... please send me a pm. Cheers! :cool:

The bike is now in a garage in Auckland, and will be back in that garage after my trip. Ballpark price is $5,000 NZ.

Nice bike. Is it registered for NZ use or on temporary entry arrangements?

If you follow the link, he has bought it in Auckland, and is coming for a trip to ride it around the country. At the completion of the ride, he will be selling it in NZ.

Yes, that's correct - it's a NZ based bike... I'm just visiting it... :-)

Bike is now officially for sale. Several people I met during the Southern Cross expressed interest, but I didn't write down all the names and email addresses...
It worked perfectly for my Southern Cross journey. Did 6,602.9 flawless km on it. Had to replace some wearable parts (see below) but otherwise was perfection.

In any case, the first $5,000 NZ will take it. Here's the stuff it comes with:
UK Spec 1996 Honda VFR 750
* 52k miles (not km)
* Fairly new tires - Michelin Pilot Road. Replaced in Alexandra on April 30th (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jonbauer/479629383/)
* New RK chain and sprockets. Replaced in Christchurch on May 1st (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jonbauer/482643585/)
* Steel braided front and rear brake lines
* Big lockable Givi hard bag (with 2 keys)
* An after market service manual
* Rear seat cowl
- Thanx

Lucky bastard. Well done Swoop
Cheers all!
Did the deal today, so I am now the owner of TWO VFR's! (bloody kiwibiker....) although one is still in the shop since February...
Anyone want a project bike??? Strangely, the manual with the 750 could provide some leads to fixing the 700... Here's hoping!
I'll post up some piccies when the clean and polish is all done. Jon, I believe you missed a couple of spots when you hosed her down :whistle:
Ah, so what's wrong with the 700?
Cheers all!

Yeah, sorry about that Swoop! I did a quick cleanup when we finished the tour. Was pretty tired...

Cutting out.
Have replaced the CDI unit and am currently looking at the pulse generators.
Slowly eliminating potential areas...

If you look at jbauer's flikr link, there's a guy there says to always have a spare after-market regulator/rectifier with you. He had them go bad on a 91 and a 97. Sound about right for your problem?

Hmm. I had the reg/rec replaced along with the battery a year or so back, so was really discounting this. I will put it back on the "possibilities" list since I want to get her back up and running reliably!
She runs for about 8-9kms then gives up the ghost. Once a nice rest has been had (and cooled down) she fires up and off we go again!
Does temperature and reg/rec sound possible? I am wondering...

Ask me stuff like that about rally cars and I could give you a sensible answer (well it would sound sensible anyway). About bikes ... I could really screw yer bike up!
Nah doesn't sound like reg/rec, that causes you battery trouble, not cutting out like you are talking.
