Quasi cordura jacket

A few weeks ago, Quasi had a special on cordura jackets so I grabbed one

I am commuting to work these days on the bike in all weathers, and the Technics jacket I have been using to date has never been particularly waterproof, and I was not keen on another winter of getting soaked.
Ordered jacket, confirmed the sizing, sent money and a couple of days later a big package turns up. Fits well, and more to the point, it is waterproof, as proven in the downpurs recently. This is also more than I can say for my Feildsheer cordura pants, which were pricy, but unused for a couple of years, until I got this job and discovered they are not really waterproof either.
The Quasi jacket comes with armour covering the back, shoulders and elbows, albiet basic. The back protector is a piece of closed cell foam.
Tailoring is good - no dangly threads or unfinished seams, and everything zips together easily.
Summary
Disadvantages:
The technics jacket breathes better - I find I get sweatier in the Quasi jacket on a summer day. I suspect the different lining may make the difference.
Colour choice is black and thats it.

Good stuff:
Waterproof like it says, for at least a 20-30 minute commute anyway.
lots of pockets - I think I am still finding them.
Well made, although I haven't crash tested it yet.
Good service, quick delivery and it was a sharp price.

Recommend it and would buy another one again. I have been eyeing up the matching pants, unless I can get the Feildsheer pants waterproof again. Might have to wait until payday next month.

Lol yes I left my watch in one of the pockets and it took both me and my girlfriend a very long time to find it, I had to take the jacket off and everything, just to find which pocket I put it in :)

It is indeed pretty watertight. The only time I've got wet in it was in the super swimming-pool-style rain of Tuesday (was it? Maybe Monday) earlier this week -- I suspect though that it was coming in through the neck by sheer force.

I too get a bit sweaty in it in the sun. You can take the lining out but I don't really bother.

To get your pants waterproof, try washing them. Apparently this is how to keep Cordura waterproof -- give it a wash, and it wicks the water off interrupted by dirt, or something.

Sweet write up dude, thank, yeah they are sweaty in the sun, thats cordura for ya, rulae of thumb if air gets in..so does the water, no air= no water dude

To get your pants waterproof, try washing them.

So they say, and I do hope they're right because I recently went through the rather involved drama of faithfully following the directions (and "qualified" advice) and am hopeful that this has cured my problems.

Since that I have stuck two serlous downpours: one torrential effort at Levin a month or so back and a lesser but still significant one near Huntly last weekend.

Thing is don't just stick it in the machine, buy the right stuff "Sportwash", "Nixwash" (sp?) designed for the job and read the instructions. Ordinary detergent won't do it. Actually it (allegedly) does damage.

Bike shops and Kathmandu have these products and the latter is having a sale although the specific item(s) may not be on special. They also sell the silicon spray to use when the suit is dry.
