Akaroa is worth doing,(better during the week,less traffic) and coming back take the Gebbies pass turn off and come back around Governers bay to Lyttelton or along the top around the Summit Road

also while you're down Ruapuna test days, Tuesday and Friday $50 for 1/2 day
