see my crash thread, I got taken out by a 4wd - his fault

*if anyone could pick me up after work today in lower hutt (near maccas/LH police station) and give me a lift/ride (i have my gear with me) to NaeNae please pm me*

I have my new bike, the 636 but no license to ride it as I cant sit it untill the 21/4. Im currently moving to a new place so my commute times would become greater and then at the end of next week I am leaving my job and commute would be about an hour

Okay so, been back to the police station then to the AA and rung ltsa asking about license exemptions, all say it cannot be issued immediately just because of what happened and would take the normal time which is ATLEAST 3-4 weeks and even then I still may not get it (I have the height thing going for me anyway)

currently in the process of seeing if my insurance (or that of the 4wd driver) covers temporary transport/taxis/whatever

also I see ACC covers loss of wages as a result of an accident, would this be true for me as the reason I cannot work is I have no transport. (would they pay for taxis?)

If anyone has any information that would help please please pm me or post it here

cheers
Doug

Bit out of my way but I know Riffer goes that way somehow because Nasty gave him a ride. We can work something out for the 2nd.

What does the Banditto need to be road-legal?

Ride sorted, Madboy just offered to pick me up - what a great guy!

My insurance has come to the party, they have offered to cover me riding the 636 as long as if something happens it isnt my fault and they gave me a great deal! so a big thank you to Dave and the rest of the team at KIWIBIKE INSURANCE (www.kiwibike.co.nz) and the guys at STAR INSURANCE

Had a mate get knocked off his treadly and broke his arm. ACC paid for him to travel to and from work by taxi until the cast came off.

And they don't pay all your pay either. Can you survive on 80% of your current income?

p.s. Also available to give you a ride. I come past the hutt at around 5:30.

Yea, i very much doebt they would pay as its not an injury preventing me from work its a by product of the accident

would be able to survive on 80% at my parents place easy, at the new place especially at the start im not so sure

thanks for the offer of the ride but its sorted now

Awesome. Good on the insurance guys. Probably cheaper for them than paying for you to rent a bike.

Not to rain on your parade (just curious), what happens if you get picked up by Mr Plod on the 636?

Not raining, i'm well aware of what will happen

breach of license cond. $400 and 25 demerits, probably wont be allowed to ride away.

I've had that all 3 times I've broken stuff in the last few years and been unable to ride (Broken bone in 1 hand, 3 broken bones in other hand, and munting all the ligaments in an ankle respectively). Bloody brilliant servce from ACC, and nice to get some of my levies back hehehe.

Its a bit like all the extra stuff you can get from WINZ.. They dont advertise it, but if you know about it you can get it.

what sort of stuff? does this help me? would they pay for the renting of a bike or taxis each way?

No.. Acc will only pay for taxis if your medically unable to ride/drive, but are still able to perform your job if they get you to work (Even if its light duties).

Winz extras I meant things like the $250 clothing allowance if you've been unemployed for 4weeks+ and then get a job, special benefits to cover loan payments etc if you suddenly end up on the dole, etc.

Bloody hell. All I ever got out of ACC was $17 a week when I broke my arm playing footie and couldn't do my paper run.
