WTF- Smilies are corrupt??

When I put in some smilies it replaces it with a R Rated image? I see the smilie toolbar on the Right hand side is the same?

edit: if you are using internet explorer try holding down ctrl and clicking refresh. this re downloads all the pictures etc instead od using the cached copy on your computer

That image is one that is downloaded if someone tries to link to a KB graphic .This is considered a naughty thing to do. I don't know why your browser was trying to link the graphic rather than downloading.

yes that would do it, its called "hot linking"

basically if you make a website but when you put the pics in use other website addresses then peoples browsers get them from that place instead of where your page is hosted - this saves traffic and hence money for the person

ironically i imagine the pics of the girls are a bigger flie size than a smilie anyway but its the thought that counts and its not always smilies

Yes. The smilie is really a URL link back to the KB server. When you copied the post you copied the URL of the KB link. So the other site had a link to the KB server. And the KB server has some code that says "If another server comes and wants to download this, send them this naughty picture instead".

Sometimes this catches folk like you have innocently linked without meaning to.

I think there was one example of someone mass emailing their work place and parents/relatives with a funny joke copied and pasted from what was posted here on kb with a lot of smilies in it :rofl:

Yeah these bizzare chicks have turned up in some posts i sent to myself to remind me to check the internet links later on. Can't say I was particularly amused.
