Coming out this Friday. Probably be dumb as, but have to go see it if it has motorcycles in it.

Question is, is it worth getting Circle Lounge seats at Bottany for it?

Well if you've seen the World Trade Centre on DVD that will give you some idea of nicholas cages acting abilities!!!
Fuck the guy seems to be the same in anything he does (SHITE)
I walked out during the world trade centre to the tune of the american national anthem playing for the twentieth time and the sound of yanks crying OH MY GOD OH MY GOD Not one of them knows how to swear properly!! Whats wrong with a fuck or a you bastards, in fact I left that movie with a clearer understanding of why terrorists would want to blow the U.S up They've finally had enough of all the shite movies spewing out of Hollyweird at an alarming rate infecting the world with americanisms and decided to do something about it!!!
They should've got Temuera Morrison to play the part of Ghostrider at least when it gets to the part where he bashes his bitch and starts fights in the local it would be realistic!!!!!!
Lets hope his hair really catches fire and we see some decent acting!!!!!
Fuck off Nick you're past your useby date!!!!!:shit:

Lord of the rings????? The acting in that outstrips anything Cage has ever attempted and the good thing was that Gandalf and the Hobbits werent all standing around singing the stars and stripes every ten minutes and having therapy because Saruman and the Orcs were trying to fuck them over! Lets face it the American film industry is so fucked, that every time a small film company puts out a classic movie they all go into panic mode!!The best movie i've seen in ages was the movie about the Aramoana massacre now that's a classic!!!
People appreciate a bit of realism once in a while they could at least attempt to make their movies a little believable!!!
Rambo versus two thousand troops and crack russian commandos C'mon!!
The reality is if he's a yank he probably killed more of his own troops and allies through freindly fire than enemies!!!!!
Every movie Cage has done seems to run along the same line,a laid back hero with a funny accent who has super powers and no acting ability!!!!:shit: :shit:

Dude, it's a movie. Who gives a shit if it's believeable?
If you really wanted that why would you care if someone with super powers could act? Do they need to act in order for their super powers to work or something?

And I've seen maybe three movies that have had the american national anthem in them.

Yes it is. I've seen it in a film. U571, for instance. They won in that, didn't they?

I'm looking forward to another ('Mercin) Colditz film. Mainly to see what accents the 'mercin actors put on while escaping.
Also, the 'mercin take on the Falklands conflict.. to see if they fight with the British, or against..

Heavenly creatures was a pretty good older one. Been a couple, but they'd be VERY niche outside of NZ.

Gotta love Bandwagons though, people been on the anti american one a while now. Fact is, if you're seriously anti anything american you're just as much of an idiot as a blind xenophobic proamerican. There's good from all over the place. Patriotism gets tiring sure, but it's actually a nice sentiment that (especially today) people take pride in something... i guess NZ lacks decent history enough to have it's own identity.

But its getting boring now, the same old story. The 'mercins putting right any nasty people. All interwoven with some moral message. Take Independence Day, for instance. Nasty aliens come to earth. Who saves the day? 'Mercins. Specifically, a black man and a jew.
There's loads of them now, these sort of films. So many, I've given up going to the cinema. Its the same old tripe time after time.

NZ may lack any history from more than a couple of hundred years ago, but at least it isn't lying about it, and stealing other country's history.
For instance.. The UK has centuries of history, but children in schools are having their time wasted being taught about how long peaceful muslims have been there, and what nice people they are. They're taught about ancient indian customs and festivals.

I'm not sure who he even is, or if he's still around. If you look around the torrent sites you can find some of those movies. There is one movie where he does a runner from the cops on a bike (think it's a Hayabusa), and he does a runner from them in a WRX STI and with a motard as well.

That dude has/had some mean skills to lane split at close to 300kmh.

Just off the top of my head: Whale Rider, Once Were Warriors, World's Fastest Indian, Smash Palace, Goodbye Pork Pie, Heavenly Creatures, Boy, Sione's Wedding were all great Kiwi movies. But i think you must have been down at the pharmacy filling your prozac script and missed 'em eh?

Yeah, you're absolutely right....a world full of morons get sucked in by the hype about LOR then come out raving about the movie because it's shit. Then go along to the next one.....and the next one....and probably the next one.......based purely on the hype. Yeah riiiiiight.........

Funny as fuck that you don't like "seppo hype" yet go all moist in the panties over products from the United States of Australia. I spent 17years in the joint, watching many a bad Australian movie and it couldn't be more apt that they roll out a megadollar shocker called "Australia". I rest my case.

But you are welcome to go live there and find out for yourself, don't worry there's plenty of prozac over there too so you'll be 'right.

All good points - especially about going moist in the panties-mmmm nice feeling that.
You were right about filling out the prozac prescription after watching most of those NZ movies - apart rfom the fast indian & Sione they were depressing pieces of crap. 'Boy??? whalerider???' give me a fricking break.

I've never lived in Aussie or been inclined to spend anylong periods of time over there but been to the gold coast a couple of times - that gives me as much insight into Australian life as a NZ movie does about Maori life.

The reason I like Aussie movies is that most of the good ones are sleepers i've never heard of but been drawn right into after flicking channels. 'Proof', The japanese tourist/story?, kenny' & no i wouldn't bother going to see anything hyped like "Australia" In fact I steer away from mainstream hollywood movies cos 9/10 i'll be sitting there wondering why I went to see it.

Hey that's a good one. Do ya mind if I use that as one of my own?

When restlessly flicking channels a few years ago we came across this scene part way thru a movie where an old guy was riding along a road on a rideon lawn mower towing a homemade camping trailer. On either side of the road were corn fields that stretched out forever.
This scene went on for about 5 minutes. Nothing but this dude riding along the endlessly straight road at about 10kph on his rideon towing this trailer. During that time my wife & I each wondered what was he was doing, where he was going & what was the story behind him that sent him out there.
We kept watching it thru to the end & as people came into contact with him & heard his story he managed to casually address issues that were troubling them.
That, to me, was a good movie.
